Road to upsets begins with scheduling - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=rivals-162206&prov=rivals&type=lgns)
Read the record when BCS teams go on the road. This is why most don't go on the road. It's harder to win on the road. So when you do it's HUGE!

Two reasons.
1) Nothing to gain and everything to lose
2) They do not have to.

Well..... that's chicken s***. You lose your crown if you don't defend on the road. So our teams better be playing other BCS schools (other than rivals) every year.

some people just do not get it....why would they??? there is one simple answer to this dumbass question...
$$$$$$
they would have to give up the home game revenue.
poser.

Was it home revenue when UF stopped playing Miami? Is Miami not quality enough of a program?

Mid Majors JUST started being considered for top 25. How is that a "BCS" situation. I would have agreed that SEC teams need to go into another BCS schools home turf. That is where marquee match ups are made.
Mid Majors shouldn't WANT SEC type teams in their house. They make more money playing at an SEC school and get more exposure.
Kind of short sighted there, man...

Mid Majors are Conf. USA, Mtn. West, WAC, MAC and SUnbelt. Not 1aa.

Your heading says MID MAJOR.
Miami isn't a mid major.

I am well aware of what a mid major is. The point I was making is, if they just started allowing what used to be 1aa into the top 25, how could a SEC team know if a non BCS school would reach elite status? You can't.

I cannot believe we're having this discussion again.

We told you to stay away from those sites that criticize the SEC for their OOC schedule. They're not aware of our conference rules, and obviously don't agree that our in-conference schedule automatically gives SEC teams a high SOS. If it ain't broke, don't f*ck with it... and 5 NC's in the BCS era say it ain't broke.:brick:

They use to play every year, but they just started playing consistently against recently. Tulane also plays in the Superdome as there home field, so they are able to fit a large enough crowd that LSU can still make money with the road game.

SEC teams pay mid-majors around $500k to come play at the SEC team's stadiums. I doubt many mid-majors could afford to get an SEC team to come to thier stadium.

Not only that, but we pick up the rivalry again in '08, anyway. We explained this, ad nauseum, a few months ago. Every SEC team HAS to play a certain number of home games, per conference rules; and trying to schedule away games OOC at schools that have substandard facilities is difficult. It's not impossible, but the only person I've EVER heard have a problem with it is BFIK, and fans of the inferior conferences who are forced to play tough OOC games to bolster their SOS, and be able to compete with the SOS's of SEC teams.

LSU playing Tulane makes sense, especially if they can gross from the super dome. That isn't quite the same as LSU Going to a Western KY.

Agreed. You won't see LSU playing at La Monroe, La Tech, La Lafayette etc.

But Indiana, Army, WVU, Arizona and UT are playing home games for Western Ky. in the next 5 years. Granted the UT game is in Nashville. Army is the only non-BCS team visiting the Tops. The Big 12 has sent 2 teams to Troy. And LSU going to Tulane is a prime example of stepping up. Playing in NO is an advantage for LSU and playing in Troy would still be an advantage for most SEC schools.
The 500k doesn't mean s*** to the small school when you look at the marquee it would be for the program. Also, most are in mid size towns that would financially benefit from a game like that.
Also, it makes the SEC look better than a bunch of people who will only have games at home stadiums. I always here "We beat ourselves up in conference." That's because we don't even have the courage to allow someone the shot at our crown on the road.

did i mention anywhere in that post the word quality??? man, i wonder about you...actually i dont, i know you are a pac poser with about 100 favorite teams.
as far as miami(not that i need to defend florida against any pac schedule), but if florida did play miami this year(and they will in 08), their schedule would look like this:
tennessee
ole miss
auburn
lsu
georgia
south carolina
kentucky
florida state
miami
and possibly lsu again
there is 7 games on that schedule that will probably be played against opponents who end up ranked....and probably 3-4 of those 7 in the top 15.
why in the hell would they want to schedule road games against mid-majors??? what would that prove?? if one cant draw an accurate conclusion based on that schedule, one should not be watching football.

Here's what you don't seem to understand. W KY can't afford an LSU, FL, UT (truly at home) or even UK (UK does sell out at home). Those teams need to make X amount off of every game.
IU? Az? Army? Those guys have their own problems getting people in the stands. Why not do a road game? WVa? That I can see. They recruit KY quite a bit.
Its about money either way you look at it...

UK is usually in that boat only worse, because you can almost always swat a poor UK on that type Schedule for ALWAYS playing LSU.

Actually UK and UofL are looking at a 2 for 1 with WKyU.
As far as me having more than one favorite.... that's B.S. I'm not someone who buys the B.S. we are the greatest conference ever. It's cyclical. In fact the SEC was basically Alabama and Alabama only till the 80's. If you look back Alabama didn't play in Oxford till after Bear.... was that fair? No. I don't think it's fair to just have OOC home games and expect everyone to respect you. It's like Duke basketball..... they never play on the road OOC. It's B.S.

I'm not the one that said anything about how many teams you follow. I have a few friends that do that. I don't understand it, but I accept it as their privilege. As for UK or UL playing at W KY. I haven't heard anything about it (not that I would until the sched is out). I would not understand why they would, but if they see value, go for it. They know more about it than I do...

I think if you have other 1a schools in your state.... you should play them.
I am a fan of Alabama and have season tix to Bama, UK, Vandy and WKU. I support the communities teams that I make money. I was referring to Blues Cap who always degrades the conversation of name calling.
