I've waited patiently a long time for this day...

We all knew that with Spurrier, it was just a matter of time. It wouldn't surprise me if Smelley isn't the starter at year's end, though.

Chris Smelley was impressive when I watched him at ACA, but I never thought he had SEC talent. Good luck to Smelley though, I still feel bad that he never got a offer from us. Lord knows his heart was here in Tuscaloosa, his school is only 5-6 miles away from the campus.

Kevhugh:
Instead of taking a shot at Blake in your signature, why not just replace Blake with Chris?

Lawdog: I'm getting there...I've been busy so the quick and dirty was the best I could do in the time I had.

So can we expect him against us next Thursday?

I would imagine it would depend on how he plays this Saturday against MSU.

I agree, but I would be surprised if Smelley doesn't play well.

i might get worried a little since state has had three pick 6s in three weeks

As long as we win I won't care if you make it four in 4 weeks. You guys had a really good defense last year as well and Smelley played some in that game. He's probably more prone to the INT than Mitchell is, but he's not scared to make an attempt.
I think this situation is somewhat similar to last year. Mitchell is still probably a better thrower, but he just waits too long and our O-line can't protect him long enough. Smelley is nowhere near as mobile as Syvelle was, but he makes much quicker decisions than Blake. Sometimes that not necessarily a good thing, but usually his mistakes result in incompletions or INTs which are soft, misplaced passes. In other words, you don't see CBs jumping routes with Smelley so my guess is any INTs would result in quick tackles.

The quick and dirty anti-blake Sig is now replaced with another quick and dirty but much more amusing one (to me at least).
