Well this isn't going to go over well with Gamecock fans. But the AP and I agree Georgia should be rated higher the USCjr. I question why Alabama didn't fall further, but I guess it's like everyone is saying. The media has a love affair with the $4Million coach. I also agreeed with leapfroging Florida with Oklahoma. that will only wake the gators up after a sluggish game in Oxford. And Kentucky is right where I thought they should be ranked. I still question Texas and their ranking at 7. Rutgers proves me wrong once again by playing far better than I thought they would. In all, Half of the SEC is in the top 25 and that's good for the conference.

The only ranking I care about when it comes to UGA is that we are tied in the East and we have the tie-breaker because of a little something I like to call 16-12.

Why should alabama fall futher then 22? It was a close game and they were playing a ranked team. Georgia went to 16th and alabama to 22nd they traded out and I don't see nothing wrong with that.

Georgia is 15th.
Really happy to see us in the top 25 still. There was no reason to drop us completely out...

I think texas and wisconsin are both overrated, as most of their performances this year were hardly convincing of a top ten team. Its awesome to have all those sec teams in there, now all the hogs have to do is win their next ten games! lol! But seriously its awesome that programs like south florida and cincinnati can get in the mix now, makes it more interesting.

No way Georgia is 7 places better than bama. Kentucky is rated a little high. The win over louisville doesn't look so impressive. Rutgers is by far the most overated team on the list.

Do you know how rankings work? If you lose, you drop, and the teams that win move up. That's how UGA is 7 places ahead.

i concur with this statement.
I'm also glad to see that we still have so many sec teams still in the poll and still being considered for votes. Shows that we are still the best conference in the land.

Damn, the last time I seen a bigger homer, it was on Green Acres. bamafan, you amaze me. How in the hell can one person smoke so much crack, and be able to log on the Internet and Find a site, not to mention being able to have the sense to type, or even FIND the key board?
IN week two in the AP poll. Arkansas was in a Bye week and ranked #16 in the nation recieving 537 votes. While Alabama was was non ranked and recieving 116 votes. In a game ending with Alabama winning 41-38, a three point difference mind you, the Tide went from unranked to a #16 ranking, while Arkansas dropped out of the top 25.
You bitch about why Bama shouldn't drop out of the Top 25 because of, as you put it,"It was a close game". Just because a game goes into overtime doesn't mean you get a free pass. What gets you a free pass is having a $4Million Poster boy the media goes goo goo for. Just like Steve Spurrier in Hooterville, $aban in Trailorville give you an edge others doesn't have. Yes Urban Meyer may get a few breaks, but he has earned it in his short time as a head coach with winning season's one after another where ever he goes. Auburn has fell off the face of the Earth, they use to have a little power in the voting, and so did Tennessee. I notice Fulmer got them back toi recieving votes again in the AP.
Your reasoning in this issue is a joke. ANd a real fellow fan would let you know this. Only problem with that is, are they brainwash like you also?

I was one of the first one's on here to congratulate Bama on a hard fought game by the way, so don't try and play that card on me.

If you look at our ranking, the same thing happened last week. We barely beat Arkansas, and somehow jumped from unranked to #16. I expected us to be #20-25 after that win, but apparently the pollsters disagreed.
As for UK, I think they're right where they deserve to be. They not only beat Louisville, but also this week they put a world of hurt on Arkansas in the 4th quarter (on the road). Fayetteville is not the most friendly place to play in for UK, so I know it took a lot to step up in the 4th to pull away with that kind of lead at the end.
If you want confusion with the way the pollsters think, just look at Wisconsin. They barely pulled off a 17-13 win over Iowa (losing at halftime), and somehow stayed in the Top 10. And Nebraska... only beating Ball State by a point (41-40) AT HOME.... and staying in the Top 25.
The polls don't have much relevance in my world... unless you're #1 / #2 come January. :-)

Glad to see that the East is picking up the slack left by the West or else less than half the teams in our conference would be in the top 25.

I see your point that we beat Georgia at their place and they barely won on the road at Alabama. Maybe we should be ranked ahead of them, But the fact of the matter is you are only as good as your last win or loss. Win like you are supposed to and you go up lose and (no matter who you lose to) you go down.

Ummmm South Carolina BARELY won against Georgia. So the diffrence in the wins is based solely on whos stadium is harder to win at. And I think both Sanford and Bryant-Denny are about the same toughness to win at. So the South Carolina win is no bigger then the UGA win at Alabama.

USC better hope they don't get Croomed this weekend. I doubt they will, but this is the SEC. USC looked pretty banged up in the LSU game, and MSU played Gardner-Webb. Being rested can make a big difference as we've seen already this year.

I would not worry too much about that. One thing about Spurrier teams, he gets better as the year goes on. You do have a point, we do have some injuries. In particular Jasper Brinkley and Jared Cook. Overall, however we are a pretty healthy team. I think we will be fine. Our win over Ga was no fluke.

Yeah, Im liking the matchup of our defense against their offense. I'd be surprised if they score more than 9 points. Their defense is good, but we have more weapons on offense than they do. I expect us to stack the box, make em try to beat us through the air, and use our depth at defense to stay fresh. I also wouldnt be surprised to see Spurrier try to score quick and often to speed up State's need to go to the air. I expect us to win this one by a pretty good margin, but you never know.Im sure our players know that losing this Sat. would be a season buster....We'll be ready.

Seven places in the poll aren't that much. And by this I mean in the middle of the pack. The differences from #1 to #4 aren't that great and when you get below the top teams the rest of the poll is pretty close. So seven or eight places in the poll doesn't mean that UGA is seven or eight points better than U'bama. If you look at the Sagarin ratings their predictor shows UGA is a point lower than U'bama.

No, you're 1-1 in the SEC. SEC doesn't do their standings by divisions only, but by the whole conference, so the LSU game counted against the Cocks.

Yep...all SEC games count in the SEC standings. Our record against teams in the East can possibly help in the event of a tiebreaker to determine who finishes where in the standings in the East. But other than that, all SEC games, against both East and West opponents, are equally crucial.

Now here's a trivia question for you... if Georgia, Kentucky and Florida all end up with only 1 conference loss, Georgia to Kentucky, Kentucky to Florida, and Florida to Georgia..... how is the winner determined?

Based on the tiebreaker, we would win the East since we've never won the East before.
Actually, it gets pretty complicated when you have a three team tiebreaker. Here's the rules for the tiebreaker from the SEC Sports web site. In your hypothetical situation stated above, you'd have to look at records that Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky have against other SEC teams, especially against other teams in the East.

Well, there are more than 3 teams in the East with one or no conference losses at the moment. But, there is a list of rules the committee goes by to pick a winner. If one rule can't determine a winner, they move to the next one. I'm sure somewhere on that list, it can determine the winner of that situation.
