View Full Version : SEC week 4 recap

Questions were answered in week 4 in the SEC where fans seen SEC eastern teams, Florida, Georgia and Kentucky all hit the road for the first time this season. East division top team traveled to Oxford where they seem to play sluggish against a fired up Rebel team. Like Al Davis of the NFL's Oakland Raiders says, "Just win Baby" And that's what Tebow and company did although it wasn't pretty. While in Arkansas Air Woodson entered Razorback stadium. With the wildcats making key errors to let Arkansas stay in the game, The SEC best passer kept his cool and rally his troops to a huge road win to go 4-0.
And the Dawgs of Georgia were in Tuscaloosa to play the undefeated Crimson Tide at Bryant Denny. It was a good ole fashion SEC slobber knocker. Fans watch the game go into overtime where Alabama got the 1st chance on offense, and settle for a FG. The crowd went silent after watching the dawgs connecting on the first play from scrimmage for a Touchdown and the sudden victory for Mark Richt over the $4 million-a-year Alabama coach.
The Ole Ball coach took his guys to death valley as the #12 gamecocks took on the #2 LSU Tigers. Fans watch their tigers control the cocks on a sloppy field to go to 4-0 for the season. Hats off to the Defense for the Gamecock holding the nations second best team to under 30.
In the only other SEC east game, the Vols. had no problem with Arkansas State winning 49 - 27 at home.
While out west...
Auburn played host to New Mexico state today. and with the defense putting Auburn on the scoreboard first, Tiger fans watch Kodi Burns start the game slow only to see Brandon Cox enter the game to lead the tigers down the field and had a good day as Auburn took this one big 55-20.
And Mississippi State beat Big South Conference team Gardner_Webb even after being out scored in the 2nd half. the final 31-15.

TD's grade for week 3
B With two rank team losing and both Florida and LSU playing sluggish, you have questions about the SEC's strength. But a nice showing from Kentucky to remain undefeated, and Georgia getting back to it's winning ways.

You didn't fix anything for me Ziffle. Quit being a poor loser and try to rep, you team a little bit better. Fact is the way it's listed Georgia is in fact rated ahead of you. Take the same record and keep you yap shut, and accept it. Georgia has scored more over-all points than USCJr. has this year. See for yourself wise guy.

Actually TD, those standings don't incorporate tonight's games. South Carolina does hold the H2H tiebreak over Georgia and should be put on top in the "who gives a damn" category though.

this was my point. He's just being a sore loser since his team lost to kentucky.

When posting the SEC standings, why are you posting the overall records? It should just be the SEC records. Right now, Tennessee is tied with Vandy.

I was actually proud of TD for a split second because that was a pretty good breakdown....but then I saw it took him about 2.7 seconds to revert back to the @$$ that he is.

The same amount of time the gamecocks realized they were way over their head's yesterday in Baton Rouge. I call it as I see it. I seen last night a Georgia team with a confident QB, where as a Gamecock QB was questionable. You have to move the ball in the SEC, and after week 4 you have to believe Dawgs are doing it better than the Cocks. If you want the AP, look it up. This is a poll that if you don't produce your arse WILL get leap-frogged.
If I were a sore loser as one Hooterville resident stated, I would have put you wineners in the Stock Dropping catagory. As you see, I didn't do that. Grow up cock fan and accept you had a good run, and now you weakness is being expose.

A 5 year old could probably figure out that SCar was playing a MUCH better defense last night.......just an observation, since that fact apparently is above your feeble mind.

Yeah...its way over his head. We more than doubled the amount of points LSU had allowed all year and were the first team to gain over 150 yards on em. On the same day UGA gets to play the team that gave up 450 yards to Arkansas....as if those two tests are even remotely similar:closedeye UGA didnt move the ball that well against us. I guess TD's memory isnt too good.

Not to mention we held LSU to 28 points when they had scored over 40 in every other game they played this year.

Whats next cocky, you going to bring up how close you guys were last year against Florida? That;s a lot of you Cockfans problem. You live in the past. You have to continue and not live with what you did yesterday.
I agree with the face you guys are a very good defensive team. I didn't say anything otherwise. So tell you fellow fan, even a 5 year old knows QB's doesn't play on defense. Read the whole threads, Don't speed read them before replying.

There's alot of playing left to do. I think the East is wide open. I'm not slighting Florida, 'cause I think they're the team to beat, as usual. But with Kentucky playing very solidly, Georgia gaining confidence and playing better, and Tennessee always being a threat, it ain't over by a long shot. We've got to get by MSU, which is alot tougher than I'd like to admit. We can say that we've given LSU their best game so far. It remains to be seen if they can continue to roll over everyone they meet. But they are a complete football team with balance on both sides of the ball.

TD may ruffle my Gamecock feathers, but he's entitled to his opinions like everyone else. I do notice that his threads get alot of posts. If nothing else, TD engages conversation. His personal attacks are just some of the bad that comes with some of the good.

 What? If Stafford is any better than he was last year, it ain't by much. Hell, I was about to go look up that "Stafford or Tebow" thread just for kicks and giggles. He was pathetic last night against a team with a brand new coach. He had a few good throws, but ones that would have gotten picked off by the likes of LSU. USC had a good showing against #2, and UGA almost got beat by #16... plus USC has already beaten UGA, in Athens. Dude, what planet are you from? You don't need an AP poll to be able to do simple math... their records are the same, and USC holds the tie-break win over them. Where's the confusion?

WTF?!

I cant bring up the fact that we beat UGA in Athens this year because its in the past? Doesnt that factor into the equation of rankings this year?

And as for our offense we did much better against the best defense in the country than any team so far. Shouldnt offense be considered when ranking a team? We have the same record as UGA and we beat them at home...its obvious that your hatred for SC factored into your ranking. Quit wasting your time trying to rationalize something that anyone with half a brain can realize is flawed.

Revised Update for cocky4ever

What a fantastic weekend for the SEC.Yeah they were other games played Saturday, but none with more meaning that South Carolina going on the road and almost beating the nations #2 team the LSU Tigers.
It was a true ESPN instant classic as soon as the Mighty Gamecocks got off the train. Floyd & Charley guide the Cannonball from Hooterville to Baton Rouge in record time, as the trip took 4 days,7 hours and 36 minutes. With Uncle Joe, which was moving kinda slow, took care of the lodging for the team as he was able to contact a cousin with a boarding house just outdside of Baton Rouge.
Steve Spurrier, the Nations best coach and future Nobel Peace Prize winner lead his Cocks on the field and the Tigers instantly knew they were in trouble. But because unforseen lucky breaks, LSU squeek by the nations best team, although not regonized for their accomplishments to the football world.
As one onlooker from LSU said, " Holly molly, That dar Ole bawl coach is one hellve man, I hope he never do come back to da bayou, cuase surly he take da tigers da next time he play dem" With that being said, the nations is still in shock.
America has suffer in it's past. The bombing of Pearl Harbor, John F. Kennedy assisnation in Dallas, 9/11 terrorist attacks on it's home soil. And now this. How can the best team in the SEC lose in Baton Rouge? Les Miles is an Idiot. ANd Steve Spurrier is a artist of the game of football. It truly one of the darkest days in the history of the world.

Say what you want but Stafford had poise last night. Takes a special kind of ability to be able to throw a picture-perfect pass like that to win it in OT on the road with the game on the line and 92,000+ fans screaming at the top of their lungs. He kept his cool all night long, and if you think he was pathetic then you are just being a super-homer.
