Saturday's game with Arkansas is big. It is the first game of the SEC season, marks a potential to begin the season 4-0 for the first time in ages and gives the Cats a national audience, ready to see their Heisman-contending quarterback. However there is much more at stake than all of that, for tomorrow marks the chance for Kentucky to become a legitimate 2007 contender. The win against Louisville was great and will go down as likely the most memorable of my lifetime. However it was a rivalry game at home with much more at stake than simply what was happening on the field. While the win showcased just how far Kentucky has come in the past year, it was just as much a win filled with emotion as it was one filled with an improvement of talent and determination.

However Saturday's game with Arkansas is different. Winning Saturday shows that the Cats are ready for that next step into legitimacy. If you go on the road, in the SEC and beat a good team at their place, you are ready to be called a contender. Kentucky has virtually never done that. Occasionally they pull of a win at home or on the road against Vandy or Mississippi State, but generally, the Cats lose every game away from Commonwealth and hope to steal a few at home. But if they go to Arkansas and beat a team with a Heisman favorite on the roster, and do so by outplaying the Hogs at their place…..well then this team is more than for real. There is a lot at stake Saturday…..while beating Louisville put Kentucky on the national map, beating Arkansas can keep them there….and make people take notice that, as Rich Brooks said in the preseason, even if the Cats arent an SEC title contender, they will have a say in who is. I cant wait for the game and I hope the Cats show what they are made of…..the program taking the next step requires it.

If McFaddens healthy, Ark wins.

All reports say he is healthy, but they'll probably try to keep him under 25 carries.

I'm rooting for the 'Kats. I want Woodson's offensive show to upstage McFadden's offensive show.

I am pulling for Kentucky also, but its going to be a tough game. 2 awesome yet opposite offenses matched up to horrible D's. This is going to be a shootout. Should be fun to watch. Go Cats!

I think that UK just has to play for the run every time. And they should be able to pass with ease on Arkansas secondary

Arkansas' "horrible" defense has had two bad quarters. They've had periods of solid defense and periods of major breakdowns. If they fix the breakdowns, they win easily. If not, it's a shootout.

The win over Louisville may not be anything to brag about if Syracuse continues to whip them on their home field.

Its great to see Kentucky make some noise, its just honestly sad that they'll go back to oblivion after Woodson leaves them. They don't have much saved up in the cupboard as far as talent goes, and I don't see them jumping up and making a huge splash in recruiting this year either.

Instead of firing their BBall coach and hiring another expensive one, they should be putting some of that money into the football program.

Kentucky could make a hugh statement tonight in Fayetteville. The Wildcat players deserve better that what they have as a fans base, Most hang out a Rupp Arena, not even knowing what's going on in football.
I wish the best for these guys, They have a class coach and teams like this you like to see have success. But not tonight. Go 11-1 will be fine with me. But get on that plane tonight with a 3-1 record.

This is as wrong as statements like:

* Kentucky is a passing team

* Kentucky can't play defense (Arkansas' offense goes scoreless for the game's final 35:40)

* Kentucky doesn't have the depth to win

* Kentucky won't win on the road

I understand why everyone is skeptical, given the last 20+ years. Just don't be surprised later when you find things have changed at UK, and it turns out this isn't happening just because we have Woodson.

Woodson proved me right. Tonight, in Fayetteville, he was better then McFadden. Kentucky's gonna scare and beat a lot of good SEC teams this year.

Incorrect on many fronts, TD. Our message board had a record number of posters online today, all of our games are sold out this year (at 70K, just a shade behind the capacity of your beloved razorback stadium), and we will follow our team home and away. We had more than 50,000 fans in nashville for the music city bowl last year (far more than your hogs had in a much bigger bowl game in orlando). worry about your own house, our's is just fine.

lol We're top 30 in attendance every year since we expanded Commonwealth Stadium. I guess everyone is just jealous that we can get 120,000 folks in one place on game day just like they can, AND fill Rupp Arena to capacity and shut down the city when UK is playing basketball.

Yes, we get to have our cake and eat it too....and yet because we like basketball so much, we must not watch football...lol. We have the best of both worlds....ya'll should try it, you might like it, instead of remaining so narrow minded.
