View Full Version : My thoughts on Auburn after MSU

We lost what can be considered a season buster today. We Auburn folks are going to have to come to grips with the reality that this years squad will be lucky to go 6 -6. I did like what Kodi Burns brought to the game. I think he did as well or better than you can ask a true freshman who isn't fully versed in the playbook. Considering our defense was missing 4 starters they held up pretty well. This is the youngest team we've fielded in a long time and this year will be pretty rough. However, I firmly believe Auburn is planting the seeds for future sucess in that these fresman and sophomores are learning the lessons that will make them great down the road. So, to my Auburn brothers and sisters I say keep you chin up and keep pulling for our Auburn Tigers. This team really needs our support right now and I for one plan on giving it to them.

AU needs to move to a 2-QB system or stick with Burns as the starter. If we go back to Cox trying to lead this team, we will be fortunate to get 5 wins. If we can help Kodi quickly learn the playbook, we can salvage 6-7 wins and get him some very valuable gametime experience going into the next off-season.

If you go to the game please do not Boo cox----yeah we were all wanting Burns in the game but Booing our own players is not auburn-like...he made a good drive down the field with an attempt to win the game---had he won, everybody would have cheered him---thats not right---i myself got caught up in it and realized that it wasnt right...he is having problems but do not boo him off the field...doesnt help

I agree that we shouldn't boo cox. That is just not auburn like at all and is quite embarrassing for our school.

I was just about to post something about this. I think that a 2 QB system would work for you guys. I watched most of the game yesterday and while I know it sucks right now(losing 2 games in a row) I can tell you that Burns and Fannin are the real deal. The future was out there on the field for Auburn yesterday and they looked really, really good.

A two QB system would probably work, but the stupid coaches need to start Kodi and NEVER play Cox in the redzone. Tuberville is a f*cking moron.

Agreed...No booing of Cox! Regardless of what you think of his abilities as a QB, he has been more than productive for us over the years! With that said...so has Tubbs so TJ cool it buddy and stay on the ship! It hasn't sank yet, its justing taking on some water at the moment.

It sank before the season started. But I will never get off. WAR EAGLE.

If your not going to get off then please stop opening all the hatches to try and make it sink faster. All these people Booing at the game and everyone calling for Tuberville to be fired are just hurting the team more. Auburn needs our support now more than ever and we need to make sure they ALL know we are behind them no matter what.

The booing of cox is simply unacceptable! This guy has been @ Auburn for 6 years going through 100 degree two a days, grueling practices, not to mention getting pounded wile raking up the most wins of any active SEC quarterback. Yes, he is struggling but we must remember what he's done for us. All of this wile he is fighting a degenerative muscle disease. IMO, I think his disease has progress to the point where the medicine he is taking is no longer effectively controlling it. He simply isn't the same QB as he was in 05. I think we do need to get Kodi Burns up to speed so Cox can be benched for his sake and the teams. But he should never be booed. If anything he should be applauded for keeping up the fight as long as he has.

What you've pinpointed is a tremendous coaching error. How can your 2nd string QB only know 5 plays?
I understand Kodi Burns is a true freshman, however, practice started on August 6. I'm willing to bet that the scout team QB is learning 10 new plays each week. Auburn's coaching staff should've been coaching this boy up 'cause he's only one play away from being the only healthy QB.
And Kodi Burn's responsiblity didn't start on the first day of fall practice. After all, he's been out of high school since May. As the 2nd string QB, he should've known at least 30 plays before he actually strolled into the prettiest village on the plains.

Actually, Noah, Kodi is our 4th string QB. The coaching error may have been recruiting a 2nd and 3rd string qb with the same skill sets (and limitations: i.e. mobility) as the starter. Tubbs said he wanted a change of pace and that's why he went with Kodi.

Kodi was actually listed as 3rd string behind Blake Field. I believe Tuberville had every intention of redshirting Kodi this season then when they lost to USF he decided he might want to play Kodi some. I would like to see Blake come in some for the next game, lets see how he does. It has to suck for him to be the backup for the last couple of years and then get jumped by a true freshman, but I guess that shows he may not be good at all.

No offense, but what are the 6 wins?? In looking at the schedule, 6-6 would be an accomplishment for what we've seen so far!!

I think we win 6 and the Arkansas and Alabama games are up for grabs. Of course, if they come up with a good game plan to use Brandon and Kodi we could do even better. I am still optimistic about our chances because we will get some of the injured back and the Oline will get better, and Kodi will get better and if they take some pressure off BC he might step up some too.

Well it sucks for me! Tennessee is my number one team and my number two team is Auburn. I picked an Auburn and Tennessee SECCG. There goes my season lol.

Kodi was listed above Neil Claude? Don, do you think the problem is talent that we recruit/attract at QB or is it coaching at that position? Lately, they seem to mostly have the same skill sets. I remember we had a guy from ATL that was suppose to be pretty good but I think he transferred last year. You remember him? Where did he go?

I think Kodi was listed above Neil because Neil was hurt. The only QB I have heard that transferred recently was Ensminger (sp?). I am in South Carolina so I get all my info from al.com and message boards.

I just did some research, Calvin Booker is his name. 6-4, 245 from ATL. He transferred to Ga. Tech last year and is a RS Jr there now. I'm not sure why he transferred other than thinking we wouldn't get to play with Cox around. If I remember correctly he had a pretty strong arm.

If Kodi gets hurt (which he probably will), we will lose about 9 games with our coaching staff and Brandon Cox in charge. Auburn can only win by recruiting talent!!!! No coaching abilities whatsoever...

kodi knows more than 6 plays. the coaches just felt comfortable with him only running 6 plays.
