Quoting Auburn QB Brandon Cox - Tuesday, Sept. 11 Press Conference

On feedback from the coaches:dry:
"I watched the filmed on Sunday and put it all behind me. I learned a lot from it, we all did. We did some positives and some negatives. We put it all behind us. We put together a good practice today and focused on Mississippi State."

On small, compounding mistakes:dry:
"From watching film, the same thing happened from last week with Kansas State. A lot of nine or 10 men football with nine or 10 guys playing and doing what they"re supposed to and one or two not finishing blocks or completing passes. The execution is there. We just have to finish."

On trying to do too much:dry:
"From talking to Coach (Al) Borges, he thinks I'm trying to put too much pressure on myself and trying to force the issue too much with my passes. He thinks I need to do what I"ve been doing and to distribute the ball where I need to, to guys around me and try to keep us out of bad situations and make some plays. The thing is we are still looking for the guys to have break-out games to be the big play makers. Mario Fannin really stepped up and made some plays, but he had some fumbles too that hurt his confidence. That will come. He showed some signs of being a really good playmaker. As long as he can secure the ball, he will be a good player."

On the struggles of the running game:glare:
"That's what this offense is built around. We run first and pass second. If you don"t have a running game, you won"t have a passing game. The other night we established a running game, but our passing game was up and down and having five turnovers really hurt us. The first game, not having a running game really hurt us."

On Crucial drops
"A lot of the passing game has been on me making bad decisions, not making the pass when guys are open or forcing the pass when guys aren"t. But when we do get some guys open, and I get the ball there and its dropped, it gets me down and gets the receivers down. We need to have a good game where we hook up and have a good passing game."

On getting hit:thumpsup:
"This past game ,other than a couple hits, I don"t think I was hit too much. Our offensive line did a really good job. I don"t think they were pressuring nearly as much as Kansas State. The Kansas State game, a lot of the hits came after the throw guys coming free. We didn"t have enough guys to block them. When they are bringing more than you can block, you have to expect to get hit, but the offensive line did a really good job last game."

On panic mode:unsure:
"The coaches have done a good job on settling us down. We have the playmakers and our offense works. We"ve seen it work. Just from watching the film, we see it working. We just have some guys missing some assignments and things like that. It's working. We just need finish off the plays and gel together as an offense."

On the leadership role:thumpsup:
"We just need to go out there and play the game. The young guys have really improved dramatically from the start of fall camp and from the first game to the second game. The young guys, especially Lee Ziemba, he's fired up. He's very emotional. He loves to be out there. He's always getting it up down on the field. The guys may have had their heads down after the game but today at practice, you wouldn"t have known we lost. Everybody is focused on the game this week with Mississippi State. Everybody has confidence that we are going to go out there and have a better game."

On having something to prove:thumpsup:
"We need to prove something. We have something to prove to ourselves. It's a big game. It's an SEC game. We just need to go out there and play our game. Last game, we hurt ourselves. We just need to go out there and not turn the ball over, put some drives together that put some points on the board and not rely on our defense to win games for us. We need to give our defense some confidence that they don"t have to go out and win the games for us."

Any thoughts on the mindset of Cox?

I watched all of those videos, and he seemed very content with his performance. Which was not a good sign to me. I think he should have been devastated. Either way, Tuberville will do what he wants.

And he wants to play the senior...
