:thumpsup: AUBURN - Auburn freshman Wes Byrum has been named as a Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Star of the Week, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Tuesday.

Byrum was honored along with Art Carmody of Louisville and California's Jordan Kay.

Byrum made all three of his field goal attempts against South Florida, including a season-long 49-yarder. He also connected from 46 yards to give Auburn a 20-17 lead with 2:54 remaining in the fourth quarter, and hit a 39-yarder during overtime.

Currently tied (with Georgia Tech's Travis Bell) for the national lead in field goals made with six, Byrum leads Auburn with 22 points scored. Bryum has made three field goals in each of the first two games.

The top three finalists for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award are honored during the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet on Tuesday, December 4.

All Football Bowl Subdivision kickers are eligible for the Award named for NFL Hall of Fame kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza. Votes for the award include Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches, sports writers and sportscasters, conference representatives, professional kickers and previous Groza Award finalists.

I was really worried about our kicking game coming into the season. It's good to see we are solid in that area.:thumpsup:

I really love this kid. Byrum is a SOLID kicker, not only for a freshman, but for a starter as well. He was hitting 50 yarders in his first collegiate game! I'm glad he signed with AU so we can have him for the next four years. WAR EAGLE

I was very impressed by Byrum. That boy has a big leg. Congrats Aubies.:thumpsup:
