I've heard this rumor, and I'm sure it's been talked about on the site. But I'm new, so help a faithful SEC brother out.

I don't know... FSU is in real trouble. Jimbo Fisher is not going to help them much, if any at all. Florida is monopolizing the recruiting in the state, and then these newbies, like South Florida and Central Florida, are developing huge enrollments and are wanting to be heard in football, as well. FSU will have to get someone good... and Richt is good.

Its an easier path to the national championship. Basically all you have to do is beat UF. I don't think he will but I wouldn't think it would be a dumb move if he did.

Richt already said he is staying at Georgia until after his kids graduate college. And in case you didn't know, that's a long way away. And Richt (unlike some SEC coaches we know) is a man of his word.

When Richt finally does retire, Derek Dooley will be the next head coach here.

He's moved a ton of his family up to Athens, I doubt he's going anywhere soon.

And yes, this has been discussed a couple of times on here.

yeah, I think Jimbo would have had a better chance of getting the HC at FSU if he would have stayed at LSU. I wonder if he regrets that move yet?

I say he stays right where he is; he has built that program into something good. I can't see him wandering off from what he has created. Then again, every man has his price.

I've said this before...and I'll say it again...WHY would Richt leave the beautiful city of Athens and the University of Georgia...to move to that hell-hole known as Tallycrappy to coach a bunch of "work-release" convicts in one of the most corrupt athletic depts in the Nation?

I think he'd be a fool to leave, that would be a downgrade if anything. Georgia may have an even better tradition, is in the better conf., and he can get any recruit in GA.

By midseason, FSU will be darned good. They're doing a complete overhaul. It's not as hard when you have a completely new staff to change everything, but Bobby and some of the old guard are still in charge while doing it. Bear didit in '71, but Bowdens no Bear.

Yeah, no way. Richt would be a dumb--- if he left Georgia. I still don't know why Amato left NC State. Didn't he have a winning record against f$u?

Eric Berry's Dad played at UT. I think it is safe to say that when you are instate you can keep the vast majority of recruits in state. It's retarded to say that any school has their entire state on lockdown.

This is true. However, how many of the 7 did Richt and Garner really go after in a serious way? I know they wanted Berry badly, but that was a non starter from the get go being that his father is an ex Vol player. Also, they were in on a lot of out of state players like Sturdivant that they thought were just flat out better than any OL in Georgia.

Also, Richt seems to recruit 3 or 4 kids that aren't on anybody's radar screen, and all the recruitniks just go nuts wondering why he gave them a scholly. Thomas Davis is a prime example. He was a 1st rounder in the Sunday draft. It seems to me that all these recruiting gurus never look at kids that play in bad and/or small high school programs, and they tend to get overlooked.

well 2 of those top 10 were OL and he definatly went after them...2 of those guys originally committed and then changed so he was goin after them. 1 was newton that went to FL and i cant see how we would go after logan grey and not newton..and actually lookion back he only got 2 of the top 10 instead of 3

I see where you are coming from re the OLs. I think our new OL coach will make a difference from now on. If I remember correctly, SS came on board only a few days before the last signing day. Did Newton commit to UF before then? I don't remember. If so, then I think Sereals came in way too late to do anything about it. I think we will see a lot less of these unfortunate senarios from now on.

Fwiw though, we did have another very good recruiting class this year. At least it seems that way right now.

I want Brice Butler so bad. Him and AJ Green would probably be instant starters.

Anyway, do people really think Vince Dooley's son would coach at UGA in the event that Richt does leave? I dont know alot about him, is he a good coach? I mean his father set the bar pretty high. I'd hate for him to be the UGA's Mike Schula

It seems he has made quite a positive impact at La. Tech after 2 games. Their fan base worships the ground he walks on right now. Lost to Colt Brennan and the Rainbow Warriors by 1 point after a failed 2 point conversion in OT on Sat. night. As I read his statements to the media after the game, I thought I was transformed back to about 30 or so years ago, and that was Derek's father they were quoting. You know, saying all the "correct" things and no more. I do have a gut feeling that the younger Dooley is going to be a very, very successful head coach somewhere.

You know very well that the Georgia coaching job is in his, the alumni and athletic departments mind somewhere in the future. Not the near future.... but the future.

I must say that I never really thought about Derek being a head coach anywhere until he got the job at La. Tech this year. To tell you the truth, I I thought he might coach a few more years in the League and then go back to practicing law. But as I have observed through the media and the main La. Tech message board how he has gone about his business of getting the rebuilding process of that program off the ground, those very thoughts that you posted have gradually become more prominant in my mind.

Just a quick, but important addition to the above, that bastard Adams will have to be long gone before another Dooley will be hired to any job at UGA. Frankly, I wish he were gone yesterday.
