My Rankings
- Based on performance of last week, this week, and strength of opponents

1. LSU - Despite their offensive question marks after the big win in Starkesville, they managed to put up another 40+ on the widely considered best defense in the Nation of Virginia Tech. This team seems to be on it's way to a possible undefeated season.

2. Florida - Florida had another high scoring game, but gave up a lot of 2nd half points to Troy. None the less, their offense is very effective.

3. South Carolina - The Cocks upset Georgia, making Richt's "most talented quaterback" look pretty below par in the process. This team is dangerous.

4. Alabama - A good win over a talented Vanderbilt team in Nashville was impressive, no matter how much I hate the Tide.

5. Tennessee - Tennessee beat a good Southern Miss team pretty easily in the 2nd half. The Vols offense is starting to look like the real deal. Big game for the Vols in Gainesville this weekend.

6. Georgia - Despite their loss, UGA showed in week 1 they are a talented team. They just lost a close game to a division rival.

7. Arkansas - Had a nice win over Troy in week 1, and a bye in week 2. The Backs have a big showdown with the Tide this weekend.

8. Kentucky - Another blowout win for the Cats, but their opponents aren't really helping their S.O.S.

9. Auburn - They lost to a South Florida program who is on the rise. Their defense looked good, but their offense killed them. They definatly need to work some things out before heading into conference play.

10. Vandy - Tough loss in Nashville to the Tide. This is still a talented team though.

11. Mississippi St. - State with a nice win at Tulane moves up a spot.

12. Ole Miss - With a close win in Memphis, and a loss at home to Mizzou, the Rebels take the last spot in the rankings.

Those look just right, and I'd have reached many of the same conclusions. Good analysis.

I disagree with some of it. I think florida should move down below bama, and I think auburn should be last. that's the only things I see that should change.

The only reason I would put florida that low is because they've played to weak teams and one of them they let score some points. Their true test is next week.

No way Auburn should be last. They lost to a rising South Florida team and beat an above average K. State team. Miss. State has not impressed anymore than Auburn with their win against Tulane. And you think Ole Miss should be above Auburn after barely beating Memphis, then losing at home to Mizzou?

did you watch the same game as I did? AU/USF looked like the 2 worst teams playing each other. I am giving no credit for that.

Now that's some objective analysis. I would actually switch Alabama and Tennessee because So. Miss is a better team than Vandy, other than that I think it looks spot on.

I watched part of the game. My point though is, you can't put State or Ole Miss above them. What have those 2 teams done to impress anymore than Auburn? Miss State was creamed by LSU, and beat a below average Tulane team. Ole Miss lost at home to Mizzou and let Memphis score 21 second half points. Auburn deserves to be higher than them.

Really. I don't know how Ralliartist could reach any other conclusions. Also, you'd have to be drinking turpentine to rank Bama ahead of Florida in a power poll. The only reason Troy scored any points in the second half was because UF had already scored 49 on their first 7 drives in the first half, and let up a little in the second. The Gators still won by 4 TD's against the team that Arky beat by 20. They won't make the same mistake about playing all 4 quarters, but regardless, that doesn't diminish Florida's offensive capabilities. Bama beat Vandy by 2 TD's, and beat WCU (a AA team that UF beat 62-0 last year) 52-6.

I personally don't think we got creamed by LSU at all. Hell we turned the ball over 6 times. If we got creamed the score would have been 75 to 0 and LSU's offense would have moved at will against us, which did not happen. They did move at will against VTech. Then we turn around the next week and destroy Tulane on the road. MSU's defense gave up 6 total yards to Tulane in the Second half. I don't care who you play if your defense only gives up 6 yards in 30 minutes of football, you've impressed the hell out of me. But, hell I could just be a homer ranting. I guess we'll see after this weekend. GO BULLDOGS!!!

It wasn't 75 to 0 because LSU stuck their second team in.

LSU's second team didn't hit the field till around 7:00 min to go in the fourth. That is also the point we put a lot of our second team in the game. The only reason Ole Miss scored in the second half against Mizzou is because they put in their second string. Otherwise ya'lls stats wouldn't have been so padded.

Is that true? If so, I guess Miles knows the importance of style points. But already being ranked so high, I'd be careful about playing starters that late in a blow-out game.

Here are mine after 2 weeks!! Previous week's ranking in ()

1. Florida (1)... We don't really know how good this team is as they haven't really played anybody. What we DO know, however, is that the Gators bring it EVERY week regardless of opponent....something NOBODY in the SEC can say. Until somebody proves they do it better, they remain #1.
2. LSU (2)... Anybody who still feels these Bayou Bengals aren't for real needs to have their head examined. Can the Bengals bring that intensity every week??
3. Carolina (3)... I had them 3rd before the Georgia win and they proved me right. Solid all around, but not flashy. Nobody looks forward to playing the Cocks!!
4. Tennessee (6)... I know I'll be accused of homerism by jumping them 2 spots, but the Vols showed a little swagger and impressed with physical play against USM. Not predicting a win, but I think at least Florida will be challenged this week.
5. Alabama (5)... Solid win against an over-hyped Vandy team. Now the REAL season begins!! The battle for 2nd in the West is this week!!
6. Georgia (4)... Despite the loss, the Dawgs are still a good team and have alot to play for. We'll know what kind of season it's really gonna be for the Dawgs after their trip to Tuscaloosa in 2 weeks.
7. Kentucky (9)... Still not sold, but you have to like what you see so far. Can they compete with Louisville?? Should be fun to watch!!
8. Arkansas (7)... perhaps a little of "out of sight, out of mind" here, but they get their chnace to prove against Bama this week.
9. Auburn (8)... I said that the struggles against KState were no fluke last week!! The good news?? You're still undefeated in the SEC!!
10. Ole Miss (11)... At least the Rebs showed some fight against Mizzou!!
11. Vandy (10)... Not embarrassed against Bama, but....
12. MSU (12)... A win's a win, but it was Tulane!!

GO VOLS!!

Arkansas is the 3rd best team in the SEC until proven otherwise. I guess we'll have to go to Bama and get a win down there to get respect.

I can't disagree with anything you said. Would be my exact rankings also.

Alabama's true test is the next 3 games and we could rise to 2nd in this thing or near the bottom. Arkansas, UGA, and FSU. That is a pretty tough slate right there.
