Now, for us, that was a great football game.
Spurrier had the game from the beginning, and he never relinquished it.
South Carolina played with desire, and Georgia was complacent.
For Georgia, there were Goats a plenty.
On the Opening Possession, Coutu missed a field goal inexplicably to the left. Next drive, Coach Richt eschewed the field goal. We lost by 4.
We didn’t score a TD for the 1st game in 7 years.
Knowshon Moreno popped back up, as is his trademark already, after taking us to inside the 10-yard line and he exhorted his lineman to keep the block up downfield that he was ready to cut right and score.
Instead, on the next play we threw a pass, just when Moreno had driven us down the field and he was feeling it.
On the sidelines, you could see Coach Richt didn’t want that play. That was the turning back point that ruined the evening.
Having allowed for how UGA would be ranked about 20th by having been ranked preseason Number 13, and Winning One and Losing One; and go on to 9-4 because our Defense would not be the Number 8 Defense in NCAA Total Defense this season – I still figure we have 3 more losses.
Having also allowed after last week’s game that we didn’t look like a 9-4 team last week, I also clearly pointed out – but that was Big XII opponent – Oklahoma State. So, how good are they ?
As for our game compared to others : How did California look to you ? Not good, right ? Is it officially ok in this forum yet for me to say – now that Lloyd Carr discussed how he will be fired after the game tonight – that Lloyd Carr should have been fired years ago ?
Auburn ? Good heavens. I guess the Auburn fans are allowed to feel that perhaps the naysayers in the polls were correct about them too ? Remember now, every single poll except for the AP and Coaches’ preseason polls had both Auburn and Georgia down there at Number 25 or so.
Did I say : “Nice game against the Akron Zits, Ohio State” ?
Who in the hell are the teams in Ohio anyway ?
Speaking of which, I see Minnesota found someone they can beat : Ohio Miami. I’ve never understood that one either. Miami of Ohio ? God Almighty. That some kind of joke ? That a school would name itself Miami and be instead in Ohio ?
Speaking of which, how God Awful is either Miami ?
Colorado State played a closer score to California than Tennessee ? Oh, that’s just great for The SEC. Is it officially ok yet in here either to say, thanks a lot Phfat Fil ?
Speaking of miserable football teams, UAB beat Florida State too ? Got to be getting old in Tallahassee after 7 consecutive years of nothingness down there too – no pun intended.
North Carolina State lost again ? North Carolina, Weak Forest, Duke – excuse me, you lose all your football games.
Tar heel state.
Where is East Carolina ? East Carolina beat North Carolina ? When you say Carolina, you have said it all – for there is only Carolina – like USC is Southern California.
Little Troy puts up 31 on Florida ?
The reigning national champion, for beating hapless Ohio State.
I guess we officially can quit voting as a block – all Big XII sports reporters and Coaches – for Texas Christian University now ? TCU. God Almighty. Every opponent of or team in the Big XII gets voted way up there.
How many votes will Michigan get this week ? Number 32 in the polls ?
I see Mississippi State beat Tulane.
And, Oklahoma State won 42-6.
South Florida, or South Carolina ? Amazing.
Wisconsin is Number 5 ? They eek out a one TD win over UNLV ?
Virginia Tech is Number 9 ?
Virginia Tech. Won money on that one. Let’s see now, how good is Virginia Tech ?
7-48. That’s how good.
We continue to have our own shortcomings too, maybe not as badly as these teams. Misery loves company, you know ?
I would like to get our feet set just one throw, one time. Drop back, put the ball up by our ear, plant our feet and pass the football like it was a passing play called and we not totally out of sync. We are not Spring Chickens now : this is the 2nd season. Maybe Mike Bobo has his hands too full being Quarterbacks Coach and trying to figure out what play to call. We just still don’t have our mechanics down right. Once we do that, maybe we can go out there against South Carolina, intramural Vandie, and Kentucky and get fired up ? We still are not there. I think we will be; but for me, it starts with the mechanics. On this night, a QB from the state of Georgia who took a swing at a bouncer had the mechanics down pat, so that after his 1-game suspension for academics this time, he could come home and play with some passion.
It was a night of just simply being complacent. Lacking fire. On the other side of the football, South Carolina clearly did. Congratulations South Carolina. Well done. Now, you have beaten Florida, Tennessee and Georgia.
What’s that ?
Once each ?
