This is interesting. Where do you all think App state deserves to be ranked in the top 25..if you think they deserve to be ranked at all.

this is like girls playing in the PGA...LOL

if they want to be ranked in our league, can our really bad teams be ranked in their's?

LOL...they don't deserve to be ranked. See their last 3 D1a games.

Wouldn't be easier to just rank Michigan #1 in the Division II poll.

I think Applachian St. would be a good team to put somewhere from 20-25. They beat the number 5 team in the Nation, in the biggest venue in college football, knocking them out of the top 25. It's an impressive win, and being put in the top 25 would give them added credit for the performance. But, I think with their cupcake schedule, they should be left off the following week, no matter win or loss.

More importantly, which school do they HAVE to beat to qualify for the Div II playoffs??

Michigan would have to be #2, how could they be ahead of App St?

We'll have to see in the next five or six games just how bad/good Michigan really is to dertermine just how good App.St is. For all we know at this point Michigan could be headed where Bama is coming out of. Could be some really dark days ahead for the Michigan program.

C'mon guys.... this is just a pat on the back for App State and nothing more. We all know they will likely get some votes for the #25 spot this week but it's just for kicks and grins. Come week 3 nobody will even talk about them getting ranked anymore, after all, they won't go anywhere in the ranking playing Lenoir-Rhyne. They just don't play any other big opponents.

This is a crock, IMO. It sounds to me like an attempt to make Michigan feel better about their loss. "ooohh, we lost, but they're a top 25 team!" No, you lost to a team you shouldn't! Suck it up and move on. This is ridiculous.

All this with michigan is just another reason preseason polls are a waste of time.

No, Michigan is good. They have a lot of talent, but just didn't come to play in that game, and Applachian St. brought it. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Wolverines win out this season.

This will be decided tomorrow when they play Oregon. They either make a statement on the field tomorrow or we will know that App. State has totally blown their minds.

That is true. I really think though that they are a good team that just didn't bring it. But you're right, we'll see.

I think they should be ranked #25 for a week anyway. Then their weak schedule the rest of the year would drop them out of the top 25 anyway. I might have to go see them play in their championship game this year since it's close to me (Chattanooga). You just know they will be in it again this year.

Wait if they can be ranked in Div 1 polls so that means the champion of Div 1 is also the champion of Div 2 football. See its not possible for them to be ranked in Div 1 polls because that gives them the opportunity to be champions in both Div 1 and 2 and that isn't fair to all Div 1 teams because 75 percent of Div 1 could be Div 2 champions.

Just because Applachian St. would be ranked doesn't mean they have a shot at the championship. Even if they went undefeated, with them playing in the Sun Belt, and their weak schedule, no way they would ever make a BCS Bowl.

Actually, App. State playing Hawaii would be one hell of a football game. It would be like Arena football on a real football field.

Even with Hawaii, they would still have a weak schedule, and wouldn't be a strong contender for a BCS bid.

I agree with both of these statements. Michigan is just butt hurt and the preseason polls are stupid.

They are a solid D2 team but lets not get carried away. If they played Michigan 100 times they would probably only win one more. I don't think one game, no matter the scale of the upset, should qualify them in the AP poll. However, I think its cool that they can now come into the D1 poll. Will be interesting to see to say the least.

Ok, I'll admit I was wrong. I thought a team returning all their offensive stars would do better than that, but I guess they just miss their defensive starters too much.

My bad.

I don't think they should be ranked in the poll. UM isn't even in my top 30, so I wouldn't put AppSt. in the poll.

I'm sure we could all think of 25 better 1-A teams.

With Michigan getting creamed by Oregon, the Applachian St. win looks less impressive (no offense, it was still a historic upset). I doubt they crack the top 25 now.
