Knowing how much the average SEC fan loves Jimmy Clausen, how do you think he'll perform in his first start as ND's quarterback this Saturday at Penn State?
Or "Who Care?"

In three days, Jimmy Clausen has jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 on the depth chart, with coach Charlie Weis handing the heavy reins of the Irish quarterback spot to the towheaded freshman from the West Coast. Clausen's first starting job for Notre Dame takes place in the anticipated matchup at No. 14 Penn State on Saturday. Clausen was the top quarterback at Notre Dame after spring practices, but he was held back when practice began Aug. 6. He was recovering from surgery to remove a bone spur from his throwing elbow, and Weis did not think he was ready to start last week. (Credit source: FanNation)

I'm going to go with a ballpark line of 16-33, 220 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Sacked about 6 times, fumbles once & will probably get it back...all in all a good start for a freshman on the road at Penn State but not nearly good enough to make it close. PSU will roll in this one barring an Appy State sized miracle...

On the road in Happy Valley....it's going to be tough. With no running game to speak of I see this as a really bad situation for Clausen. THIS COULD SET HIM BACK FOR WEEKS .

Actually those are the numbers you hope Stafford puts up. Lets be honest, no way in heck Clausen puts up those numbers against a stout Penn State defense led by Dan Conner.

"who care"? That's what I say. I'd like to see him throw a few interceptions.

I agree... he gets crushed and picked off all day long. With an ego like his, and after Penn State determines if he crunches like a pickle, he should be good and depressed for at least the next week.

I think he will just tell his Daddy to take him for a limo ride to cheer himself.

Sweet Lou Holtz predicted that ND would kick Penn State's ass.

Look at what happened last week. Look at who they play this week. Clausen jumps from number 3 qb to number 1 qb. Weis just doesn't want his other qb's hurt and Clausen is to big headed to realize it.

Yeah, I think Holtz picked ND to win 10 or 11 games this year, too. He has to pick them to win every week if they're going to do that... especially after the opening game destruction by GT... there's only 11 games left.

Or else they really must have some leprechauns out there helping them, as we always suspected!

I wonder if Weiss had to Jimmy to english class, so that players could understand his Californian accent. I heard that went Casey(Jimmy's Brother) arrived at UT, no one could understand what he was saying.

This is rather ironical, wouldn't you say?

It doesn't matter now. With Jones having bolted from the program, Jimmy will have to learn by fire. Notre Dame won't go 0-12, but it will only get more ugly before it get's better this season......
