If Michigan "buys" Miles, who will the Tigers get as a new head coach?
Considerations within the SEC:
Steve Spurrier
A great coach and someone who could fly high on the Bayou; but, is he obtainable?
Bobby Johnson
Someone to think about. An excellent coach in all respects. Very obtainable, I think.
Rich Brooks
Another one to think about. I would prefer Johnson, but Brooks is good and also obtainable.
Probably no other SEC coaches would be considered, or are unattainable.
Outside the SEC:
Steve Kragthorpe from Louisville.
I don't know. The jury is still out on him.
Rich Rodriguez from West Virginia.
A probable consideration, but is he obtainable? He sort of shafted the Bammers in their search.
Dennis Erickson from Arizona State.
Well, he just got to the Sun Devils, but he's good and probably obtainable.
Barry Alvarez from Wisconsin.
He's good, but probably wouldn't leave the Big Ten. But, you never know.
Chris Petersen from Boise State.
How good is he? Probably obtainable, but would he fit on the green grass of the Bayou?
Terry Bowden.
They say he wants to return to coaching. He was pretty good at The Barn before getting cross-ways with Bobby Lowder. Would he be a consideration?

I am quite happy to announce Spurrier, in a video played before the game Saturday, called out Lee Corso in front of a packed house at WB for saying he could not win and recruit here, and also once again pledged his allegiance to South Carolina, and has said numerous times in the last two weeks he plans to be here at least 5 or 6 more years.

No idea who you guys would replace him with, but can you imagine the fallout if Spurrier went to LSU. WOW, that would be huge. Power shifts WEST:ohmy:

My number one choice for Miles' replacement would be Bo Penlini hands down.
Steve Spurrier A great coach and someone who could fly high on the Bayou; but, is he obtainable?
I could live with that one. I believe he would love to come into the fertile recruiting grounds of Lousiana, but I do believe he's committed to USC.
Bobby Johnson Someone to think about. An excellent coach in all respects. Very obtainable, I think.
Maybe, but I would worry about Johnson's recruiting ability.
Rich Brooks Another one to think about. I would prefer Johnson, but Brooks is good and also obtainable.
I'm not a Brooks fan. LSU could do better.
Steve Kragthorpe from Louisville.
I don't know. The jury is still out on him.
He's certainly building a nice resume. Maybe another big year and he's ready.
Rich Rodriguez from West Virginia.
A probable consideration, but is he obtainable? He sort of shafted the Bammers in their search.
I like Rodriguez and think he would do great at LSU.
Dennis Erickson from Arizona State.
Well, he just got to the Sun Devils, but he's good and probable obtainable.
Erickson would jump at the prospects of coaching in the SEC and being able to recruit in LA.
Barry Alvarez from Wisconsin.
He's good, but probably wouldn't leave the Big Ten. But, you never know.
He is a good coach, but I think you're right. I don't think he would ever leave the Big Ten.
Chris Petersen from Boise State.
How good is he? Probably obtainable, but would he fit on the green grass of the Bayou?
Would certainly add a little spice to the LSU program. I think we would have to get it in writting though about the "green grass". That's hilarious Geaux!
Terry Bowden.
They say he wants to return to coaching. He was pretty good at The Barn before getting cross-ways with Bobby Lowder. Would he be a consideration?
I would go with Tommy before Terry. I just don't know about a "Bowden" at LSU. Terry was successfull the first two years at the Barn but after that went down hill. Sounds too much like a Mike Archer hire.

Well hate to tell you, but he did leave the Big Ten, after the 2005 season. :brick:
You and Geaux have honestly never heard of Bret Bielema? He had such a great first year, I thought everyone knew Barry retired.

I don't think Miles leaves powerhouse LSU either. He's too loaded to leave in the next couple of years. Michigan would have to make him the richest coach in college football for him to leave what he has right now. That's seems to work at other places!

Agree 100%. Tedford is a great coach and it would be fun to watch what he could do when teamed with a top-notch def. coordinator. Ironically, someone on Colin Cowherd this morning was speculating that he would be the #1 coach on Michigan's list if they fire Carr.

My number one choice for Miles' replacement would be Bo Penlini hands down.
I forgot about Bo Pelini. He might be right for the job. I don't know what kind of a recruiter he is, but we'd keep having dominating defenses.
If Miles does leave, I'd go after Spurrier with everything we've got. He could win CCs and even NCs here right away, whereas he is looking at an almost impossible task of winning even a conference championship in Columbia in the forseeable future.

Like I said in the "Did you know" thread, Michigan will pay whatever it takes to get a good coach like Miles to be their coach. They are tired of losing to us and their bowl games. Lloyd WAS a good coach but now is starting to be very bad. Bo supported Lloyd because he was his assistant coach and Les Miles being a Michigan alum and former player, has high respect from the school and board. Trust me, Carr will not be fired, he will "resign" in his own terms because the Michigan athletic department has too much respect for him. Carr will support Miles as his replacement. Michigan has one of the top 5 athletic budgets in the country so they can afford what ever it takes to get Miles back to Ann Arbor. LSU will have to win the NC this year and LSU will have to give him an extention and raise for him to stay. That is the only way to keep him IMHO.
I just hope all you LSU fans don't become Michigan supporters if Miles leaves!

Bo Pelini will be a head coach soon enough, and if he runs the whole team like his defence, it would be amazing. outside of the sec i would say rich rod would be good.

I think its time for Spurrier to go ahead and die from college football so another coach who is washed up can move on into South Carolina.
