Michigan's stunning loss to Appalachian State on Saturday ranks as one of the greatest upsets in college football history. The Wolverines’ defeat accelerated talk that LSU Coach Les Miles is headed back to his alma mater. The New York Times says two of the bigger storylines in college football this year will be the fate of Michigan Coach Lloyd Carr and if Miles will return to revive the Wolverines. The Times notes that there was a strong feeling in coaching circles that Carr would retire at the end of the season. Hey Geaux, Read the "Did you know" thread in the Big 10 forum. We have been discussing this for the past few hours. Don't mind Sabo's and Vo-towns arguements.
I personally think Michigan will pay outrageous top dollar to get Miles. I look for the 4 to 5 million dollar range. They are sick of losing bowls and losing to us. :closedeye

The Wolverines were certainly caught off guard. It should be a lesson to us all. DON'T take any game too lightly.

Knew this was coming as soon as I heard the final score of the Michigan/Appalachian State game. Being a red neck and all, I would think that would be a stupid move, but to each their own. When a school is desperate for the almighty "W", they'll pay anything. Heyt! We did the same thing when we hired Saban. Oh well, let the drama begin!

Like I said in the "Did you know" thread, Michigan will pay whatever it takes to get a good coach like Miles to be their coach. They are tired of losing to us and their bowl games. Lloyd WAS a good coach but now is starting to be very bad. Bo supported Lloyd because he was his assistant coach and Les Miles being a Michigan alum and former player, has high respect from the school and board. Trust me, Carr will not be fired, he will "resign" in his own terms because the Michigan athletic department has too much respect for him. Carr will support Miles as his replacement. Michigan has one of the top 5 athletic budgets in the country so they can afford what ever it takes to get Miles back to Ann Arbor. LSU will have to win the NC this year and LSU will have to give him an extention and raise for him to stay. That is the only way to keep him IMHO.
I just hope all you LSU fans don't become Michigan supporters if Miles leaves!
