Yeeessh I hate to see kids failing classes for any teams, that just shouldn't happen at this level with all the help that is available.

Damn. That's not good. Hope it's not true. Lester's a great back. Who's the #2? Tate?

Tate and Mario Fannin, right?

Yup, Tate and Fannin, still using the running back by committee approach.

I think it will be alright, from what I hear, Tate and Fannin have more talent, they just need experience.

I thought Lester was better than Kenny Irons when they split time, I haven't seen the other two play but I doubt either one would start over lester.

Being a Bama fan, wouldn't you want Lester to not play?

No, I want him to play. Don't get me wrong, I hate auburn, the school, with every bone in my body and hope they lose every game, however, people forget that these players are just kids and I hate to see any of them waste one of the few seasons they have in college on something like this.

That's a good point to an extent, but at the same time, it sounds like he's doing it to himself.

No doubt about that. I just hate to see someone waste an opportunity like that, because you know how much he'll regret it later on.

I think Ben Tate has the potential to be one of the best backs to ever play at Auburn. He is a Bo Jackson type runner. His combo of size, speed, and agility are scary good. From what I've been told about Mario Fannin he is just as good if not better. I think the only leg up that Lester had on either of these is that he is more experienced. I hope he does get to play for his sake but the if he does not then these two can fill in his shoes quite well, if not better.

He is somewhat in the running as far as I know but he has a injury right now. I think it's a broken toe or something.

speculation about Lester is that a group he was involved in for a project was accused of plagiarism. Falls onto the topic of "guilty of association". This is same thing that held him out of the cotton bowl too.
thats really all i know.
ohh, and Brad isn't listed as ineligible- just suspended which means he could come back tomorrow for all we know.

Very good point...it is refreshing to see a Bama fan not totally bashing and making fun of the situation.....the situation is very unfortunate for Lester...on another note Tate is an excellent back and worthy starter

im not sure we can count on tate alone all season long...
he is a great power back but we will miss the shiftiness of Lester unless of course Fannin can learn his pass protection.

I wonder if he's a Soc. major?
The rumour is that he not once but twice plagiarized on a Sociology term paper. The teacher give him 3 months to write a new one but he didn't. I thought one case of plagiarism would get you expelled from any accredited university.

Incorrect. The first instance of plagiarism earns a 0 on the assignment and notifies the equivalent of an academic disciplinary committee. It is upon the second transgression that actions such as expulsion or automatic failing of class are taken.
Have a good day. By the way, nice to be posting again. I removed myself from the drama queen hilarity that took place during the off-season.

Tuberville said he expects Fannin to play when South Florida visits Jordan-Hare Stadium next Saturday night.
Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said the Fannin watch won't have to go on much longer, but he said playing him against Kansas State's blitzing defense going after quarterback Brandon Cox would not have been the right call.
"We want to ease him into it, as we did the first year Kenny Irons started playing," Tuberville said. "It was the same thing with Ronnie Brown and Carnell Williams. His forte right now is running the football. Last night, they weren't going to allow us to do that.
"We'd already made the decision that, if it got to that point, Mario was going to be watching and learning until we got him up to speed. We are going to have to start putting him in there, but last night wasn't the situation. Brandon was getting hit enough as it was. He's going to be a weapon for us as we go along."

The rumor was that he has been considering it, but he has been at practice all week.

Anyone who thinks Tate or Fannin is somewhat even NEAR Lester's level, is an idiot. Lester is better than Kenny, maybe even Cadillac. Not to mention having a ton of SEC experience and success.
I know for a fact that Lester was better than Caddy in both of their soph seasons. And this is Lester's Junior season. Auburn should be phenomenal and 2-0 right now. Thanks, Brad.
Ok, Fannin will be amazing in years to come. He will be the next Rudi. But obviously not Tate. Tate is slow and runs east to west too much. After Fannin provided a spark in the AU offense, Tate came in and broke a long one. That is just Auburn football though where RBs feeding off the other.
But yeah, as we stand now... Fannin is our greatest RB and should be the starter against MSU. But I will tell you now, if he gets hurt, we will lose 7-8 games with Cox.
Auburn fans, think about how great we would be right now with Lester and Fannin in the backfield. Kinda like a Ronnie + Caddy setup.
I guess there's nothing better to do at the moment except for asking the most serious and substantial question. Anyone ready for '08?
