Pleased with the rookie’s afternoon practice, Miles believes the young group is showing promise.
“There is a lot of talent out there,” said Miles. “I think there are a number of guys with some ball skills that can really help us.”
Miles singled out the play of wide receiver Terrance Toliver (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785354&Q_SEASON=2007), safety Chad Jones (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785341&Q_SEASON=2007) and the offensive line.
“Terrance Toliver (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785354&Q_SEASON=2007) is going to be a good player. Chad Jones (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785341&Q_SEASON=2007) is in as good of shape as he has been in. He is leaner and very fast with great ball skills and instincts to the ball,” said Miles.
“Our young offensive line is also getting better,” added Miles. “Ernest McCoy (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785347&Q_SEASON=2007), Jarvis Jones (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785343&Q_SEASON=2007), Josh Dworaczyk (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785336&Q_SEASON=2007) and T-Bob Hebert (http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785339&Q_SEASON=2007) are some real quality offensive line guys in this (freshmen) class.”

Ricky Jean-Francois is still in the academic doghouse; they are appealing a grade; should hear something soon.

Please to hear this! Especially after Redshirt Freshman, Mark Synder, went down with a knee injury yesterday. As with most schools right now, really good reports are coming out of the LSU football camp. I like what I'm hearing on both sides of the ball. Can't wait!

RJF is out for at least five games, probably much longer. Benton is going to Hargrove.

Maybe RJF, but Benton not so much. Benton could contribute this year but he wouldnt need to. We have two incoming WRs (Byrd and Toliver) that will contribute this year.
While on the subject of freshman, Miles says Chad Jones has a good shot at KR. Just shows how much of an athlete he is. And I would rather him or Jai, Byrd, or one of the Mitchells back there then Early. If we lose Early we would probably be screwed.

so byrd is cleared to play? benton was almost as highly recruited as tolliver. he was a hell of pickup. hopefully, he'll can come back next year.
Jones alongside Trindon for KR? that's news to me. maybe les is trying to entice him from going to baseball. u know they're backing up kickoffs to the 30 yard line now? more room for returns.
Early played PR all game for the spring game. he even ran one back. i think he's got that position locked up.

Les said it on the radio today. Im not so sure Doucet has it locked up. Returners can get hurt very easily and Les knows its a risk putting him back there. I dont see why we would when we have so many other guys that would be capable of doing it.

i would love to have trindon back there, but i heard he's had trouble holding on to the ball on punts.

I dont know where that came from. I dont know if Les said it or what. But I do know that Trindon had one chance to return a punt last year and muffed it. So if everybody is basing that off the one time he got a shot to return then it is probably wrong. But I dont think he will be back there because he is too small. I could see one of the Mitchells or Byrd back there.

Seems like many of the frosh are doing great. C Jones, P Jones, Toliver, McCoy, Dworzyck, and J Jones are all practicing in the first practice(the practice for vets and starters).

This probably just means the older players suck because Les is a horrible coach.
