did anybody get to watch the interview with croom on fsn sports nite? well if not he did his normal "i'm really excited about this year" thing but he did say that there is the most competition for spots on the team since he's been there.....when asked about predictions this season, he did not say anything about wins or losses but said " i think we'll be a good football team by the end of the season"....thats a crap answer....with 9 returning starters on offense you should be a good team BEFORE the end of the season..... he also said that the only worries he had about filling in the defense was the DTs...he said the defensive players are better this year even though they dont have experience...i mean come on....then finally, when asked about being on the "hot seat", croom simply said all coaches are on hot seats because thats the way of that coaching profession.....now anyone that has read dawgs bite and heard this interview can see how much more negative he was 3 weeks ago....either way does anyone think we'll actually be able to win more than 3 games this year with him at the helm?

To start off I do think that state will win more than 3 games , I actually believe he'll go .500 this year. and if he don't ,then look at it as a win-win situation, showing him closer to the door if he don't. Crooms is also alittle smarter than he looks , no coach is going to spill the beans or speak of things that could come back and nip you in the butt.(if he's smart) especially being on the hot seat. besides that as long as there's football being played in the sec , there's always going to be streaks of winning and loosing & records broken and records set. So support your dawgs, sit back and watch how the posts change through out the year

i know he is not going to spill the beans, and i will always support my dawgs....im just saying that we have a tough schedule even if he had a good team.....and i didnt know what to think about the change of attitude he has had in a month.....all and all i think croom is horrible but i really hope he proves me wrong and succeeds.....go dawgs!

Don't worry about the Dogs they'll be okay. Hell the best thing about our team this year is that we return 4 of our 5 offensive linemen from a year ago. That is the first time that has happened in 5 years. On top of that Dixon has really been impressive in the locker room and on the practice field, I'd look for him to have a breakout year this year and hopefully take some pressure off of Henig. The main thing that we need to happen is for our offensive line to stay healthy, though. Their backups haven't seen a lot of playing time. If we can keep our O-Line healthy we should be very competitive this year.

BTW, I'm glad you two joined the board, for a while there hasn't been too many bulldog fans on here, just me and ACE for the most part. It's good to have some new blood.

Well damn, I just figured you hated the hell out of Ole Piss for some personal reasons. I'm glad you're a Bulldog at heart too. But I can't call you my long lost brother till after that first game though. Oh and BTW, Go to Hell Ole Miss!!!

that's cool. i never had a problem with ole miss fans until i actually moved up there in la-la land. state fans and i were always on the same page whereas the preppies thought they were primadonnas. i'll be there Aug 30th.

im just glad i finally found this site.....but i think you're right about dixon, i think he'll be very good this year...but what about this elliot kid, what do yall think he will do this year because you know croom is going to put every possible playmaker on the field that he can to try and save his job....

I'm excited... football is just a little more than a month away.. I'll be there to watch my dawgs! I personally think that the program has improved, and I certainly hope we can win more than 3 games... and we will as long as we don't drop one that we SHOULDN'T (see Tulane, UAB, Gardner Webb). I really am not a Croom hater, but the rebuilding efforts definitely need to start showing up in the W/L column very soon.

i am a croom hater but im glad you mentioned gardner webb, it is a disgrace that they are on our schedule! i go to a small school with a decent football program and we killed them last year in a blowout....that just rubs me the wrong way in the fact that we would even consider putting such a low caliber team on our schedule....

The way I read it is , Tempelton had some problems with the making of the schedule, In order to have the season opener against LSU , Auburn had to adjust , But Auburn had everything already set on there end so we had to go find somene to fill in the hole, I want to say G- web is playing OHIO and some other northern Division schools.

<<can't wait for Aub 30th. I love State's campus and fans. Starkville gets a bad rap, but i like the cotton district. the tailgating is very under-rated IMO.

Have you been tailgating at the new junction yet Ramp? It is a lot better than it used to be. Also the Cotton District has a couple of new bars on University, Bin 612, Up Your Alley, and Rock Bottom Grill. All these bars have pretty good beer specials, and great food.

yes. they really fixed that up.

and no. i haven't been to any of those yet. i'll have to try those out after the game. is Rock Bottom a microbrew chain? i've always liked their beer. we're getting to starkville really early (like 2pm). i look forward to mooching some free food.

i like that you said our tailgating was underrated because i live in tennessee with all these crazy tenn fans and when i took some of my friends down there a couple years ago they wouldnt stop talking about the tailgating....thats the best part about MSU football right now.... haha

that's because they don't really tailgate at tenn. don't get me wrong, i love going to k-town, but they don't tailgate like us. and they shouldn't with the strip right next to campus. ole miss and notre dame are the same way. they don't have grills on the back of motorhomes all over campus tailgating per se.

No, its not a microbrew but they do have some damn good burgers and they have a wide selection of Local Mississippi brewed beers. Come by our tailgate once you get into town we'll be right in front of the stadium in the juction and I'll give ya'll some free food and a hard time about being an LSU fan (jk). Just look for a guy wearing a big MSU hat and is drunker than hell. That'll be me. I've already taken the day off of work and am planning on getting out there as soon as they allow tents to go up in the Junction which will probally be 12:00.

Hey Ramp , I saw that you mentioned that you could,nt find a room near Starkville in a previous post but had a room in Hattisberg. Unless thats your prefrence i'm sure you could find something in the Meridian area about have the distance as what it be to the Rock.

we're going canoeing outside of hattisburg that friday. i'm merely a pawn in this roadtrip. i got us the tickets, but i have no leadership role in this voyage. i plan on being that guy who sits in the back seat drunk going "turn here...no here...left, i mean right".

i think LSU, Auburn, and State get along pretty well considering we're all ag schools (and the only 3 vet schools in the southeast to my knowledge).

If you come to the Egg Bowl there will probally be a basketball game afterwards, and you can get your chance to see the '08 SEC Champs in action first hand too.

Just kidding about the '08 champion thing, although I do think we have just as good a shot as anyone in the SEC to do it with our talent. We would love to have you come visit our town though, just be sure you come hungry there are tons of great places to eat in Starkvegas.
