The Mobile (Ala.) Register has a profile of LSU quarterback Matt Flynn, who is set to take over the reins of the Tigers' offense. Flynn tells the newspaper that late last season he began to think about leaving LSU to put his football future first. But after JaMarcus Russell left for the NFL, Flynn found himself in charge of a team picked by many to contend for the BCS National Championship. Read the story here. Great find GeauxTo! Nice article on a guy who deserves the attention. He is a class act and a true team player. I look forward to seeing him light it up this year. I love his confidence in his ability. Remember he was neck and neck with Russell up until game time in the season opener last year.

can't see how leaving LSU would put his football future first....he's a senior, isn't he? He's only got 1 season left......

I think he meant that if JaMarcus returned, he might look elsewhere to get some starting time.

Isn't LSU breaking in a new offensive coordinator this year as well as a new QB? If so what type of system is he putting in? A new QB and OC can be either a blessing or a curse. It can mean that teams will have a hard time figuring out what LSU will be doing but it can also mean that the new QB will have the same trouble.

Good points WE73. It could go either way. Flynn touched on that a little bit. Here's what he said concerning that:
"At the same time, we have a new offensive coordinator here who is doing really good things and I like him a lot. I'm excited to play for him this last year."
Crowton, a former head coach at Louisiana Tech and Brigham Young who also has experience as an offensive coordinator with the University of Oregon and the NFL's Chicago Bears, likes to air things out. Given LSU's wealth of targets at wide receiver and the Tigers' dynamic rushers, Crowton's offense could allow Flynn to make up for lost time this fall.
"I don't think it will be that much different," Flynn said. "There may be a little more shotgun, a little more spread. Other than that, we kept a lot of things from coach Fisher's offense and incorporated them into coach Crowton's offense. All in all, it will look the same. There will just be some new wrinkles."
"What I tried to do is keep as much of the good stuff as I was comfortable handling," Crowton told ESPN.com. "I don't want to try to do things I didn't know how (to do). I added a few things I thought would be productive. At Oregon, we were very spread out. At times, there were some things you miss, certain things in goal-line, short-yardage."

Thanks! I could not open the link so I had no idea about all of that. Seeing how the revamped LSU offense will pan out is just reason 237 out of about 1000 that I'm soooo ready for the season to get started.

WE73,
our offense can't get any worse from the Jimbo "up the middle, up the middle, bubble screen, punt" offense
