I know how many SC fans feel about UGA fans, as seen here GamecockEnvy.com :: View topic - A Border War (http://www.gamecockenvy.com/viewtopic.php?t=1179).
I am wondering if any/how many of you UGA fans have had a similar experience with SC fans?
I am sure alcohol probably influences a lot of these actions, but if you have had a bad experience with an SC fan, post here.

What Rivalry....... ?
I do not consider SCU a rivalry.
I work in an office full of Gamecock fans and they have more excuses for loosing than any group of people I have ever met. I never despised the Gamecocks, but with all the excuses I am starting to.

I've been harassed pretty badly in Columbia...but I've also met several classy Gamecock fans. Unfortunately, there are idiot fans at every school and frankly, I'm embarassed when I hear stories like that...I have no qualms with good-natured ribbing...but too many people cross the line.
To address another side-topic, USC just isn't a big rival for UGA right now. You jumped up a notch for us when you hired Spurrier...and I think you'll be a bigger rival as you guys improve over the next few years.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I've been to 7 games in Athens, and I've had something thrown at me each time I've gone. My first visit was when I was 8.
I've seriously only had a handful of good experiences with Georgia fans . . . and I'm from Georgia. To be fair, however, we Carolina fans aren't much better.
If I were a Georgia fan, then I wouldn't consider Carolina a rival at this point, either. We typically put up a good fight, but we gotta start winning for it to be a rivalry.

I have nothing constructive to add to this conversation so I'll just post a pic that was emailed to me from a Georgia Tech brother-in-law of mine. He has told me enough stories about UGA fans that I'll keep to myself if only in an attempt to not give the rest of the SEC's fanbases a bad name.

Understand, I'm not saying that this never happened. I'm sure it did. But I tire of hearing stories from Ga Tech and USC fans that UGA fans are the WORST in the entire world. I used to repeat awful stories that I heard from the WLOCP, but I realized that all I'm doing is creating and enlarging urban legends. Apparently, we beat and maim innocent people, pick on disabled children, molest underage girls, and turn over police cars whether we win or lose. Please. :brick: How come Auburn or Florida fans never have those stories?
Rowdy people come in all shapes and sizes and they root for different football teams. I've run into trouble in Knoxville before, but the mere fact is, those guys were going to start trouble regardless of what color shirt I had on. The best part of college football - tailgaiting - can also be the worst part of college football.
I do consider USC a rivalry. Just because we've won a couple in a row doesn't mean I don't care if we lose to them.

I understand you may tire from hearing those stories from us, but I also tire from having to dodge flying batteries everytime I go to Athens. I shouldn't have to worry about my wife's safety when I'm watching a football game.
Keep in mind, I did say that many Carolina fans aren't much better. I tire of seeing our students launch debris onto the field when we get "screwed" by a ref.

Being a Gator fan in GA has not been easy. Esp in south GA. South GA is where most of those rough neck, trash talking UGA fans live that have never been to UGA nor have they ever had family or friends attend UGA. Its just an excuse for them to drive to Athens and trash talk anyone who is wearing the opposing teams colors. They are not good representations of true UGA fans IMO.
Living in Atlanta is a different story. Sure there are UGA fans here but there are also a ton of Tech, Gator, and Auburn fans here as well. In fact if you combine the those three, we greatly outnumber UGA fans.
Bottom line...Ive been involved in some physical altercations with UGA fans at TWLOCP. But the people who had my back and fought with me were 4 or 5 of my closest friends...All diehard UGA fans.
Every fan base has a**holes IMO.

That's really my only point. If you keep getting your ass kicked every time you go to football games, maybe you should stop going. Thousands upon thousands of people go to games every week without incident.
Our fans are no better and no worse than any other fans.

Every place does have jerks, but Georgia seems to be the only place I've ever had trouble on a consistant basis.

I sincerely think UGA's fans get the stigma of being lousy fans from those hundreds or thousands of drunk, obnoxious, trouble seekers who never went to UGA, don't know anyone at UGA or ever stepped foot on UGA's campus. They like the Dawgs cuz they're the best program in their state and have had success in the past & it's easy to bandwagon on a winner so the following gets handed down. The "true" UGA fans who are respectful, if not cordial to opposing teams' fans and know how to support their team without pushing the envelope get overshadowed by those bandwagoners.
Ohio State up here in Big Ten(11?) country have the same problem...for the most part, the OSU fans I've met are pretty cool and can give & take jabs as well as anyone. But when the other OSU "fans" who just like the Buckeyes because they've been good (and thus disappear when OSU is on a down year) come out at tailgating, you get web lore about how terribly awful Ohio State fans are. Penn State has a touch of it too up here.

Yep--couldn't agree more. 90% of the cars in North GA have a UGA tag or bumper sticker, so the support is huge and overhwhelmingly in UGA's favor in the state...there's no way our alumni base is even close to that big. I love winning, but that is a downside---you can't tell the redneck fairweathers from the diehard Dawgs.

Having grown up in both states, I have seen the good, bad, and the ugly. Over the past ten years, I've worked security on and off at the Carolina football games. I've also been to several games since my wife's family are season ticket holders. I also went to UGA for a year and hung out there quite a bit for another.
There are dic#$head fans at both schools. I've had my vehicle vandalized at a USc football game for having UGA stuff on it following a UGA win. I've been attacked in the student section several times when I came home to visit my brother while I served in the military for cheering for UGA. Even over the past few years, while with my wife and her family, I have jacka$$es throw drinks or talk trash to me for wearing a UGA shirt to USC games. I can recall working the USC/Uf game two years ago. Afterwards, we had to escort the UF cheerleaders to their vehicles. On the way I witnessed a fight break out between a USc fan and UF fan. An older ladyy tried to stop the fight. The USC fan shoved her to the ground from behind and then smashed a bottle over the UF fans head. Needless to say he got to eat a little pavement upon his arrest.
I've also seen the students at UGA throw bottles, cups, etc. at opposing fans. It happens everywhere and is unfortunate.
The temperature has risen between the two schools recently just because of Spurrier. However, it isn't a "true" rivalry quite yet. Give it a few years and some more USC wins and maybe it can become another great SEC rivalry.
I hear and get more trash talked to me every year by my family and co-workers. Cops are some of the worst at this. It has been nice over the past few years to just show them the score in the newspaper, etc. to quiet them up. The excuses flow quick, but then they give up or get mad. Hopefully, heres to one more year.

I have been to many games at many venues and I have encountered great people and bad people at all of them. No fan base is totally worthless and no fan base is perfect.
The problems come from alcohol. I have come to hate Saturday night games because it gives the partier about 5 or 6 more hours of drinking the devil's urine. It does not take much for some people to become idiots and embarrassments to themselves and to their teams.
If someone is drunk, there is no sense in trying to challenge them when they are making fools of themselves. Just keep walking. If they are sitting next to you, just try to get them singing. That is usually good for a laugh or two.

A Q&A with Georgia head coach Mark Richt from today’s SEC Media Days:
Q. Could you just discuss your offensive line, if you have a feel for what to expect from some of the new guys in there that will be starters.
COACH RICHT: First of all, adding I’m very thankful for Neil Calloway, what he did for Georgia. He did great things for us. Did a superb job. I’m thankful he’s got a chance to be head coach. I know it’s something he’s always wanted to do.
When he left, we had to hire somebody. That somebody is Stacy Searles. Stacy is a tremendous coach. He’s already come in and infused a lot of new ideas and also he’s a great teacher, great technician. I think our guys are really taking to him.
We only had six scholarship linemen after the season ended for a lot of different reasons. Thankfully we were able to bring in five kids at the midyear. Two junior college linemen, a prep school two prep school linemen and a true freshman. Maybe we brought six in. Because they were in the spring, it gave the guys a chance to compete.
Right now if we started at left tackle, it would be a true freshman, Trinton Sturdivant. If we started right now, it would be a redshirt freshman left guard, Chris Davis. We have a center, senior center, Fernando Velasco, who has been a guard most of his year.
A junior college transfer Scott Haverkamp, first time, never taken a snap at Georgia, starting at right guard. Chester Adams, a true guard playing right tackle.
You know, that more than anything else is probably why people aren’t giving us much of a chance. But I think Coach Searles has done a great job of bringing them together to this point. I think Mike Bobo has a good sense of understanding you can’t do anything you want offensively and expect these guys to hold up. We’re going to have to be a little bit careful what we do with this bunch until they get their feet wet.
Maybe this is why Spurrier couldn't stop smacking his lips at the Media Days conference yesterday: he can't stop his mouth from watering.....

I'm sorry to hear you've had problems with the Uga's. I must say my experience with Georgia folks has been the exact opposite of yours. I always make a point of going to the Auburn Georgia game because it's always for the most part very friendly between the two camps. In fact I've noticed over the years that at the Georgia game I rarely see any tailgating groups made up of just Auburn or Georgia fans. There is usually a good mix of both in most groups having a good time together.
