Georgia Bulldog freshman tailback Caleb King was arrested at 11:39 p.m. Monday night in Athens, Georgia for two misdemeanor traffic violations.
King was charged with driving with a suspended license which carried a $1500.00 bond. He was also charged with driving down the wrong way on a one-way road. The second charge required a bond of $500.
He was bonded out at 12:16 a.m Tuesday morning.
King is expected to be in the mix at tailback this season. He is currently listed as the number four tailback behind starter Kregg Lumpkin and backups Thomas Brown and Knowshon Moreno.
This one's not a big deal, except people know if their license is suspended. Richt will surely say just that. "You knew you weren't allowed to drive." :brick:

Suh-weet.
All it's gonna take is a good drug bust or a break in or something and we're on the move.
(for those who don't know me, try to see the sarcasm. It's July.)

Yeah, the season is far from over. Surely, those Athens cops will grab a few more underage drinkers before the final tally. Keep your head up, Bry; you might still catch us and beat us at something.

The least Caleb could have done was drive an extra mile or so to add evasion charges to the tally. Thats worth at least one more point in the cup. But I guess its hard to drive to much further when your going the wrong way down a one way street.

See, why can't we get OUR guys thinking like that?
In all seriousness, the driving on a suspended license part bothers me. It's thumbing your nose at a system that has already punished you. But a freshman driving the wrong way on a one way street? I bet that hardly EVER happens in Athens.

Holy Crap. The AJC is reporting that this took place on a MOPED.
This is why all the other Fulmer Cup entrants laugh at us.

It COULD be more pathetic. The moped could have been out of gas, and he was peddling it while drunk.

I currently live in the Athletic dorms, and I'd the vast majority of football players ride mopeds. There's probably some fishy booster funding behind all that, but thats beside the point. For the most part, they all drive mopeds around campus. Even to the dining hall which is like a 3 minute walk away. They are pretty lazy off the field. Anyways, my point is that any football player who gets a traffic violation is very likely to have it occur on a moped.
Also, he got pulled going the wrong way on Sanford Drive. Sanford is only a one way street for about half a block. I know plenty of people who have turned down Sanford when no one is around. I also know a few bad drivers who have turned down sanford because they dont know better. I've definitely done it to save time on my bike, which technically should follow the same traffic rules as a car. Maybe he doesn't know its one way, since he hasn't had any classes yet he MAY not have been on the part of campus much. But considering Sanford Stadium is less than 100 yards from where he got pulled, I bet he knew where he was going. It's a really good shortcut as long as no cars are coming and no cops are around. I can't blame him for doing it. Personally, I think the cop is kind of a dick for busting him for it. NO ONE is on sanford drive at 11:30 PM. If I were Caleb, I would've done the same thing.

Even though I make a lot of jokes about this, I don't disagree with you. While I would hope that he would not have driven anything with a suspended license, he may not have known that he couldn't ride a scooter. I just can't believe how much of a big deal has been made of this. Driving down a one way street? Suddenly, he's Easy Freakin Rider with "multiple violations" .The AJC suddenly has a poll on our season 'unraveling" because of all our hardcore thugs. What a joke. I bet Grady is behind that poll.

I agree completely. This is getting a little out of hand. Stupid?... yes. Season ending or thugish?... please. I can't believe the AJC is so starved for topics that it's running something like this. You may be right about the author or instigator of the poll, but you'd have to believe they (AJC) could understand what he was writing about in the first place.

Bry, you make a good point about not knowing he couldnt drive a moped. The mopeds they drive have small enough engines that you don't need to get a special liscense for them. So it may be he just assumed that it was something you can drive whether or not you even have a liscense.

A normal poll:
Is UGA's season beginning to unravel before it begins?
Yes__
No __
A Grady poll:
Is UGA's season beginning to unravel before it's freshman QB who had 7 TD's and 13 picks does not protect the ball like his coach wants him to get better and not go out and be the nascar drunk that he is and should be suspended even though that saint of a linebacker Hebron is wasting away in a military college and our third that's right third string QB is giving alcohol to the starting tight end who is underage and so important to coach richt's offense since we have a freshman QB who did not hold on to the ball and fumbled 10 times so how could he protect the ball once again i am right about this and dawg sports web site is wrong?
Yes__
No __

My wife wonders why I look both ways crossing a one way street in Athens...I've almost been plowed over by cars (and mopeds) going the wrong way several times...
