South Carolina Student-Athletes Lead the Conference Spring Honor Roll

July 13, 2007

The University of South Carolina topped the list of all SEC schools with 104 student-athletes named to the conference spring academic honor roll. South Carolina had 18 students more than any other school in the conference. The University of Florida was next with 86 honorees. The University of Georgia was close behind with 80 spring student-athletes honored.

"It's definitely an honor for our student-athletes and the University of South Carolina to represent the top of the SEC in this category. It certainly speaks volumes to the dedication and effort our student-athletes, as well as the support of our coaches, administrators, and the Academic Enrichment Center staff," said Raymond Harrison, Director of Academic and Life Skills.

A total of 861 student-athletes were named to the 2007 SEC Spring Academic Honor Rollas announced by Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive. Each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letter winner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.

The 2007 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2006 Summer, 2006 Fall and 2007 Spring terms.

Congrats to the Gamecocks!

Too bad they're not graduating...;)

Just kiddin'...but the Cocks athletic grad rates aren't exactly spectacular.

Who asked you? Don't be so blatant with your trolling, GatorHunter. My thread title isn't "South Carolina Student Athletes Lead the SEC, and Florida's suck".

To be honest, I had an idea that after I posted this thread, that one or two Florida Gator fanboys would be quick to come to the thread and attempt to shoot it down or give explanations why South Carolina - or any other SEC school not Vanderbilt - could be above Florida in terms of academics is in error. Unfortunately, my hunch turned out to be true. And guess who led the way......

Once again, way to be a SECTalk moderator. I hope you didn't pay too much for that title.

Go start a thread in the trash talk forum to bash this honour if you must, but keep the trolling out of my thread, if you don't mind. This thread has nothing to do with Florida, or you.

Now I'll use the time-worn GatorHunter trick:

;) just kidding. But not, really. But yeah, jk. ;) Not.......

:thumbsdow

Real constructive post there, GH.....this is an SEC site, why take a positive story in the SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS forum and try to tear it down? If you don't have anything constructive to add to a story painting an SEC program in a positive light, don't add anything at all.

Granted I'm going to jump to defend because you're trying to hide a jab at USC behind a little wink smiley and a lame "Just kiddin'" but this wasn't in the Florida Gators section, it's not in the Trash Talk section so tighten the cap on your arrogance bottle and just let stories like this go as a good thing for the conference your team belongs too as well. Last I checked, USC was solidly in the upper half of our conference in student-athlete graduation rates. If a story like this gets us closer to the top with UF and Vandy in that regard, we should be proud of it, not attacked for it.

WTG lacene, good find.

It's been reversed several times at the hands of lacene...and I've yet to move a thread to "trash talk" or wet my pants...

Wow, I move one thread to trash talk because the poster referenced a "shock-blogger" and now I'm being labeled... That "blogger" likes to pick on SC as well...we'll see how you feel when he writes his next "anti-Cock" blog.

This is a great accomplishment! It is hard to believe that Vandy isn't leading this category though.........
