Who are the best at their position from the SEC since the BCS started (the year UT won the NC). This is not based on pro potential or pros... simple college carrer. People I would want on my team.

Here are my picks:
QB: Jay Cutler of Vandy for my money is the best we've had.

RB: Shuan Alexander of Bama... No way would I take Cadillac or Rudi Johnson.

WR: I'm torn so I'll give two Terrence Edwards of UGA or Josh Reed of LSU. I think Earl Bennet or D.J. Hall could be the best at the end of the year. Gaffney and Rice are easily in the conversation. I can't believe I didn't choose Prothro. But one year can't help.

OL: Chris Samuels of Alabama and second Andrew Whitworth of LSU.

DL: David Pollak of UGA. Motor seemed to never stop

LB: Demeco Ryans of Bama.... I love the kid. A three star recruit became huge.

DB: Tie: Laron Landry of LSU and Reggie Nelson.

K/P: Lane Bearden of Alabama.... I may get flamed here but with a blown ACL and still kicked and tackled. STUD!

KR: Derrick Abney from UK.

Coach: You think I am going to say Saban.... I'm not. I would say Mark Richt.

I am sure there are going to be plenty of people that I forget so I ask your foregivness in advance when someone says "you picked so and so over, so and so".

QB: David Green of UGA. Most wins and that is what counts. Culter would be in the discussion along with Leak, Campbell and Jemarcus Russell.
RB: Homer alter with Shaun Alexander of Alabama. MSU has had a good group during this time along with all the studs that AU put out.
WR: I am going Josh Reed. You mention Edwards of UGA, he should have good stats because I think he was at UGA for about 9 years.
TE: Pick a UGA one like McMichael or the other monster that graduated just a few years ago.
OL: Homer again and I will go with Samuals. Andrews from Arkansas would be a close second.
DL: David Pollock of UGA. Jevon Kearse would be up there because I think his last year was 1998 at UF. Haynesworth was a stud at UT. Spears kicked some butt down at LSU would be in the discussion also.
LB: I would have Demeco 2nd even though he is one of my favorite players of all time. I would instead go with Patrick Willis. Everyone knew he was about all they had on that defense and he still couldn't be stopped. Not to mention he played half a year with a cast.
DB: Kelf Bailey of Alabama. Just kidding. I would go with Laron Landry of LSU also or the player from AU's 2004 team that went to the Skins (I am completely drawing a blank on his name:brick: )
K/P: Billy Bennett of UGA. Of course you could go with the entire damn Colquitt family.
KR: Abney of UK. One of the best of all time.
Coach: I think it would be very close during this period to pick between Spurrier (still go even with no NCs during this time), Tubs, Saban, or Richt. However I will go with Richt. He has been very good for UGA and the SEC.

Holy crap---I actually agree with every single pick. I scanned this for several minutes looking for an argument. None here. (That might be because of your last statement...hehe)

QB- DG, i would say Cutler but he had the mentality of Bret Favre whos good dont get me wrong but they loose games for their teams sometimes by doing so.
RB- MCFadden, from what ive seen of him the guy is a do it all RB who dominates games
FB- Southerland, Runningh ability, Blocking ability, Catchin ability make him one of the best ive seen
WR- Robert Meachem, if he would have stayed this year i think UT would be a top 10 team he was that good of a target for ainge and a great playmaker
TE- Leonard Pope, UGA throws out studs his career at UGA was fantastic
Ol- Ill take Samuels as well the man was a freak.
DL- Richard Seymour was a killer in the middle, outside guys id say Pollock and Kearse(slight edge to kearse)
LB- Im going to say Patrick Willis, his motor reminds me a little of how Pollock played
CB- Carlos Rodgers from Auburn/Laron Landry
Kicker- Coutu/Bennett
Punter- Dustin Colquitt
Special Teams Return Man- Skiler Green from LSU

Head Coach- Mark Richt, hes a classy guy and hes won. A close second would be Urban.

You guys really wouldn't pick Shaun Freakin' Alexander? McFadden hasn't won the SEC. I really like McFadden now... but Caddy and Shaun were better.

TE without a doubt is Witten.

I was hoping someone would bring up dwayne Robertson from UK he was a real freak.

Surely your kidding. Alexander was a great back but I cant think of one aspect of the game that he could do better than Mcfadden.

QB - D Greene -- always played within himself, excellent field leader
RB - McFadden -- I'd like to pick Alexander, but my homerism only extends so far
FB - LeRon McClain - Shula didn't use him properly (or, more accurately, because Shula hired a lousy OL coach, Shula couldn't use him properly), but he was a hoss. Remember the FL db who tried to stop him running down the sideline in 05?
WR - Most of the ones mentioned are valid options. I'd lean toward Josh Reed and Simeon Rice.
TE- Leonard Pope - At times he WAS the Ga receiving corps
OL- Samuels Consider: His senior year, he gave up ONE (1) sack. (in the SECCG). If he had played in the Orange Bowl, we would have stomped Michigan.
DL - Pollock/Kearse Pollock just never stopped, and Kearse was just a freak.
LB - Demeco Ryans
CB - Carlos Rodgers Champ Bailey
Kicker- Bennett
Punter- Dustin Colquitt (Can we just get that family spayed or something?)
Special Teams Return Man- Abney.

Head Coach--Mark Richt Hasn't quite managed to put it all together, but he's consistent and runs a clean program.

LB - Al Wilson!

No I am not kidding. Alexander is not as fast and maybe not as strong... but he was a smarter running back. He is the main reason we had a shot and won the SEC.

Also, you have to look at his huge body of work playing in a tougher SEC West than McFadden.

Also, you have to look at his huge body of work playing in a tougher SEC West than McFadden.Ignore McFadden's passing ability. Ignore his kick returning ability. Ignore his receiving.

Also, Darren McFadden has only had two years. If he has another year like this last one, you should be scorned for saying Alexander is better than McFadden.

Scorn me all you want. He does not have the record Shaun has. Plus passing and kick returning is not the job of the RB. Shaun was a smart college back. Maybe one of the best. Unlike McFadden (who is a physical freak) Shaun didn't out run you. Shaun had this way of pacing himself and let the holes open.

I don't think McFadden doesn't have a shot to dethrone Shaun. I just see McFadden having a Adrian Petersen persona. He's had one steller year. If he can follow that up this year and match it... Then yes. But till then... He has not passed Shaun.

Only one ranked ahead of McFadden in yards after two seasons and that is Walker.

nice... after two seasons... I am talking carrer. You forget Darren is about to go in a critical year where many great RB have injuries. I hope he shatters that and proves me wrong. I enjoy seeing him.

WR: Michael Clayton or Jabar Gaffney

OL: Chris Samuels

DT: Richard Seymour

DE: David Pollack

LB: Al Wilson or Patrick Willis

DB: Champ Bailey

K: Billy Bennett or the guy from Mississippi a few years ago that won the Groza award

They both played in 2000 SEC championship and were redshirts. I know this only beacuse I played high school football at a rival HS of Shaun Alexanders and we graduated the same year. I tackled him.... but he ran me over multiple times. That could show why I have a super bias to him. We (my team) played against Craig Yeast (UK), Tim Couch (UK), Marvin Constant (UA), Travis Prenticen(Miami-OH), Miguel Merrit (UA) and Shaun Johnson (UT)

My bad. I'd take Alexander then. I remember him having a huge year.

Plus for TE; give me any of UGA' s from Watson, McMichael, to Pope. All produced, especially when needed.
