did bama really pay 150k to a HS coach?
I didn't like the way he lumped all SEC schools together saying we all have had at least 1 NCAA infraction, I believe Vanderbilt has had zero.

Evidently they did, or at least a rogue booster did in order to try to get ahead. Albert Means wasn't worth 150G, however it would be worth 150G just to get a rival school in trouble with the NCAA, wouldn't it Phil?

This article is sooooo flawed. NO Big 10 Schools or Notre Dame. Then Auburn and Alabama it was boosters..... Meanwhile Notre Dame had a staff member about a decade or so ago bangin' the players and raising money for trips and gifts for them. Let's talk about OSU and the great Maurice Clarette and Mr. Heisman all recieving the same type of benefits Auburn and Alabama gave. Typical northerner bias and West Coast hate.

Clemson's an Auburn clone. No way they'd be able to rank near the original.

Poor ol' Auburn. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. #2 to Bama again... even in the cheating Hall Of Shame. One thing you can say about Bama, though... they do it smart enough to have at least gotten some hardware out of the deal. How can you have the second worst record of cheating, and no NC's? :brick:

I'm surprised that ya'll didn't get honorable mention for the antics of Charlie Pell. Ah, just like Jackie, Pat, and the others, Charlie was one of BEAR'S boys.

We certainly take the prize for most outstanding cheating performance for the single incident, however I think the Barn still holds the record for overall number of infractions.

The good Rev is Lowder's bag man. Common knowledge. He's on staff, but runs a "non-profit", which apparently allows him to live well beyond what his means should be. I know, I know, it falls under spiritual guidance, but I'll say this... I'd like to have some of that 'spiritual guidance' myself when the bills come due each month. The truth won't always set you free...

True, but only the greenest college football fan doesn't know the history. Only the most naive don't think it takes place at most programs. And only the people who think denial is a river in Egypt, also think Bear didn't get away with some things during his tenure.

Still Gator, we have to give credit to Bear for pumping out coaches that were very good all cheating aside. Dye was a great coach and helped re-energized our program, I know Sherrill brought Mississippi State to heights not reached before. And finally, Florida likes to only bring up Spurs but before him was Coach Pell. Cheating or not, he did lead you to the '84 SEC Championship and you did do very well under him.

Well put. Everybody here knows I'm a closet Bama fan. If there were no Gators, I'd root for them. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Bear Bryant. Even my ex and her family (all AU alums) cried when he passed. I'm just not letting any of the homers blow smoke up my anus.

All this "common knowledge" going around yet not a single tangible fact to base it on. If you know the scheme DC, mail it into the NCAA yourself.
Or you can sit at your computer and do nothing, knowing that Auburn is doing nothing wrong and you actually know absolutely nothing about Chette or Lowder other than what some random "respected" Bammer on TI spews.

He admitted to cheating at Texas A&M but he said before he died that he felt so bad about it that he never done it again. Whether thats true or not, I don't know I can only speculate that its true and others can speculate thats its not true.

Sometimes, tim, those things boosters do are done behind the coach's back. That's done on purpose to protect the coach and school. Plausible deniability. He may not find out about them until later, or not at all.

Just trying to clarify if these are assumptions or is there facts or documentation that back this up? Maybe we are talking about two different things here?

The state of Alabama is definitely leading the way...
2. Auburn. The SEC is to cheating what Superman is to comic book heroes. The best. Just about every school in the conference has a major infraction. The SEC boosters are so wealthy that spending $20,000 on a recruit is the equivalent of a martini lunch. Auburn earns a solid silver in the cheating Olympics.
1. Alabama. This is all you need to know about the skill and greatness of Alabama. An NCAA committee found that booster forked over $150,000 to a high school coach as a guarantee that a defensive lineman would attend Alabama. Yes -- $150,000. Now that is how you break the rules, people.

lol everytime UK has a successful season, it seems that an NCAA inquiry into the matter is required. UK....doing good in football? They must be cheating! Sadly, it seems that 99.9% of the time it's been true. CRB seems to be doing it the right way.
