they were horribly inconsistant last year. what does everyone expect from them this year? who will suprise us? who will be our best? will momass ever live up to his potential? will goodman ever stay healthy enuf for us to take advantage of his speed? lets talk about it all

One name CHRIS DURHAM. He was our sure hands last year and he will be a major factor in the wide reciver corps

I think we'll be much improved. Last year, they had to work with 3 different QBs. EAch threw the ball a different way. Now they have had a full year almost to work with Stafford. He throws lasers so they needed time to get used to it.

I look for Bailey to have a big year. He had an awesome spring and wants to finish with a bang.

AJ Green is our best WR.

Is that Massaquoi kid still playing for yall? Im from Charlotte and he went to high school here, so I kinda kept up with him his first couple of years, but really I haven't heard anything about him past couple of years. I did see that Cox kid play on tv I think it was against Colorado

Yes, Massaquoi is still here. He had a subpar sophmore year due to the drops. I look for him to turn it around this year as well.

I'm not sure the drops can be attributed to the QB rotation. I know it's a popular notion, but let's be honest - you should be able to catch the ball once it hits your hands.
If you'll remember, the "drop syndrome" started in 2005. Nobody noticed because we won the SEC. It became the hot topic last year and even though Milner's gone, we've been talking about it ever since.
If our WR's catch HALF of the passes they dropped last year, I doubt it's a big deal. But something tells me that the whole thing was bad karma that started when DJ hurt his knee. That's what I tell myself anyway.

Take away the drops and that is a very good set of WR's. Out of all of them, I'm looking for Bryant to step up. Bailey and MoMass are a given, but he could really be a sleeper. And I agree with you, Reece, I hope Goodman becomes the "breakaway" heir to Sean Bailey.

John Eason sucks.

If he doesnt get redshirted and gets some decent playing time, I look for Walter Hill to be a pleasant surprise for us. He was a duel sport athelete and was originally slated to play for UGA basketball but switched to football at the last second.
He is a sleeper who is a great athelete. 6'5" with a decent frame makes for a good possession receiver.

Mikey Henderson, Mikey Henderson, Mikey Henderson....

He is ridiculously fast with good hands. He wasn't as confident at WR last year having just swtiched from cornerback, but now he's going to be nasty. Sean Bailey.... I dont know. I want him to be good, and I am glad he is back... but in 2005 he would only really get one good catch a game. I think he'll be better, but he didn't look too fast in the spring game. Chris Durham has amazing hands, but I still dont think he'll get that much playing time. MoMass will wake up this year. He has a ton of talent, I'm not sure why he was so rattled last year. But I really think he will be a big factor this year. If he's not starting at first, he'll win the spot back before the meat of our schedule. AJ Bryant has some moves too, he should be some good back up. I'm also excited about Israel Troupe, but I'd be shocked if he didn't redshirt. We havee a ton of talent, these guys just need to produce.

at a pro day over the summer with nfl scouts timing MH,SB, and AJB all ran sub 4.4s and we even had bryan evans and remarcus brown run sub 4.3...the drops have been a big deal since 2005..i remember leading up to the SEC championship game i kept tellin ppl the only way we can win is if 1 of our wrs step up and make a play early...then sure enuf SB catches to bombs and were off and runnin...i also am not a big fan of eason...we get highly rated wr recruits almost every year and they never really develop like they should.

I can't remember who, but one of the linemen ran an unbelievably fast 40 that day too, I gotta find the article.

I hear a lot of criticism of Eason and I'm not saying it's not warranted, but it all starts and ends with those guys catching. All the technique and blocking skills in the world can't overcome 5 drops a game. Maybe Eason's not the answer, but I'd like to see what he can do if everything gels.
I'd like to see an under-the-radar player step up big, like Kenneth Harris. Plus we haven't really mentioned Tony Wilson yet.

it was DT brandon wood...he ran a 4.66...also r. jones ran a 4.38...the only reason i think our lack of consistancy has somethin to do with eason is because it has been like that for awhile. terrence edwards, reggie brown, fred gibson, and in 2005 bailey and momass were in consistant. last year they all were. so the way i see it is despite the changing wrs, the same problem still exist. so to me that points towards coaching

Up until last year, our WR's did more drills on blocking than catching. Last year, they changed that and we still dropped the ball. Sooner or later the coach has to be looked at. Eason is a nice guy, but sometimes you need more than that.

So it's agreed, we'll give him one more year, then run his ass out of town:laugh:

I guess I'm particularly excited about this year because we really only lost one WR (Raley, not really counting Milner). All of those guys has shown some big play ability. I'm just thinking that the odds have got to be in our favor this year (as in not dropping so many times a game).
The VT game showed me that we can win WITH a few drops. Now, I know - according to Grady, those were all Stafford's fault :brick: , but combine all that talent, Stafford's howitzer and Bobo's creativity and I won't be surprised to see a whole lot more offense in the air. Now if we could just get some YAC........

I hope we can improve our YAC as well. I see so many teams turn a quick slant into a 20+ yard gain. Hopefully we can do this with Henderson and his speed.
I also hope we see more break out plays with our running games. I can only remember one running play last year where D.Ware took one to the house with a 50+ yard run. I think Richt benched him after that one for the next quarter though...
