One story I heard was that it was over a girl, the other story I heard was that it was a play fight between two buds and the non-QRich bud started taking it a little more personal and pulled a knife. Hope Richardson will be OK; sounds like he's going to be fine in a couple weeks; but he might want to reconsider this guy's 'friend' status.

Yeah From what I've read, QR wasn't really doing anything wrong, he just got into an argument or play fight with the wrong dude. I get really nervous when I see one of our player's names in the headlines. When everybody reports for school and the whole team is together, we should just quarantine(sp?) them from society to keep them out of trouble. That was a close call.....a little too close for comfort.

how do you get into a "play" fight, where one of your lungs get punctured from a stab wound? At least that's what I understand the operation was for. I too would reconsider who I allow as friends if this was all in fun, but in any case from all accounts he should be fine for fall practice...

It's over a girl. Q and the other have been exchanging phone calls talking junk. It exploded at the party. Not that he's involved with them, but this was a majority gang party at a gang members apartment.
I like the kid, having met him before several times at his games. I hope he stays away from these idiots and recovers quickly.

He will be released from the hospital today or tomorrow, and will be able to resume football activities in 1-2 weeks. He is gonna be fine.

not according to this accounting:
Scout.com: Q. Richardson stabbed by jealous classmate (http://southcarolina.scout.com/2/654090.html)
according to scout.com, the kid who stabbed QR was harrassing him for a week prior to the stabbing, so much that QR had his cell phone number changed. He restrained the punk, and walked away. The punk stabbed him in the back.
How do you know that the party was a "majority gang" party? Do you have a link to this?

The harassing is over a girl. The two ran into each other at a party. The party was held by known gang members. Q was stabbed in the back while holding the subject, what else is there to say about it. Don't understand what you are saying is different, except that Q didn't call the other guy maybe. Getting it from an inside source at the investigating department.

sounds like you need to change your sources, and not believe in bull sh*t:
(Richland County) - Richland County deputies have charged a man with stabbing USC football player Quintin Richardson.
Ross Grant, 19, is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill. He turned himself over to authorities Thursday morning.
Deputies say Grant stabbed Richardson during a fight at the Hunters Green Apartments on June 24.
Sheriff Leon Lott stated that investigators have determined that Richardson and Grant had a physical fight in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Deputies say Grant was upset because he thought Richardson was making advances on his Grant's girlfriend.
The two had apparently been talking on the phone prior to the fight, and deputies say Richardson told Grant he could be found at the Hunters Green Apartments.
Richardson says he was stabbed a total of seven times. After the incident, he drove to Providence Northeast Hospital for treatment.

Richardson lives at the apartments, so I'm told....

Stories change, but the song remains the same. Richardson doesn't live there. Maybe you should find another source. My source is the guys who investigated the case while yours is the media. Quinton changed his story slightly after being interviewed at the hospital that night. He was at a party with friends. He told the suspect he was there while talking to him on the phone and to come over. He admits to fighting the subject and then holding him after the fight was over. That was when he was stabbed. The incident was over a girl.
The charge came after the subject admitted to getting the knife before coming over. He planned the attack. Otherwise, the self-defense claim may have worked due to the size differential between the two. The subject got waxed in the fight.
Take your blinders off. Not everything is as it seems. Quinton is lucky. Hopefully, once school starts he'll quit hanging out his high school crowd. They are bad news. If he doesn't, he'll be back in the news again.
THUGS. I hope he fully recovers......but he needs to find new friends it sounds like.

I have to admit, your version sounds far more likely. First, you obviously live there, and are privy to some information. Second, bringing a weapon to a party is definitely something you'd expect to hear about at a hip-hop party for gangstas and thug-wannabes; as opposed to a team party or your average college party. Finally, the differences in the stories are trivial and petty in the first place. The facts are the same: Newbie attends off-campus party with the kind of people who carry weapons to have a good time. Stupid. Newbie fights rather than leave party when he realizes trouble is at party. Stupid. Newbie wins battle, but loses war when he gets stabbed following fight. Stupid. RESULT: Pyrrhic victory for Newbie, as the conquest nearly cost him his life and playing career.:brick:

So he was kicked off the team, being charged with Mary Jane possession...what the f is this?
, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina football recruit Quintin Richardson has been suspended from the team after he was arrested Friday night and charged with marijuana possession.
Deputies responding to a call about shots fired at a suburban Columbia apartment around 7 p.m. found Richardson and three other men around a car that matched the description given by the caller, Richland County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Chris Cowan said.
Officers who searched Richardson found marijuana in his pocket and arrested him, authorities said.
Richardson has been suspended from the Gamecocks per team policy, athletic officials said.
Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 276-pound offensive lineman from Spring Valley High, was among the top recruits in the Gamecocks' incoming freshman class, which was ranked in the top 10 by many recruiting experts.
Richardson was arrested Friday at the same apartment complex where he was stabbed during a fight June 24.

I think all football players are suspended from the team arousing from any kind of arrest until the matter is settled, then Spurrier will base his decision on how they're punished based on the ruling.

Yeah, Spurrier suspends until he gets all the facts from both the player, the authorities (if that's the case...as it is with Quintin) and whomever else he can & then acts as he sees appropriate.
I firmly believe that Richardson will be on his last strike just as Stephen Garcia is. Maybe the 'leaders' of our much-heralded class read too many message boards and it got their heads all big and they thought they were untouchable. Who knows....but I do expect this to be the last brush for Richardson. I can't see how this wouldn't make the light bulb over his head turn on. Of course, I would have thought being stabbed would have that effect but obviously he was made out to be so much the victim in that incident, it didn't register.
Football season cannot get here soon enough. Too much time on these boys' hands, I think.
