Nashville owner Craig Leipold has advised the NHL to no longer consider Jim Balsillie as a prospective owner of the team.

Sources say Leipold told the league the absence of a finalized sale agreement and Balsillie desire to move the franchise to Hamilton are the reasons for his decision.

Details to follow.

Nice...I liked seeing the Predators in Nashville. Hell yea! I'm by no means a diehard hockey fan....but I find myself pulling for the Predators and the Bluejackets and the Flyers. Perhaps you'll have to give me some solid reasons I should change my allegiance full time to Nashville :D

Yeah, we're not out of the woods yet. But this guy was already 'selling' seats for the team (he didn't even own yet) in Hamilton Canada. Yet, he told us(nashville) that it would not be right to speak to us since he didn't own the team yet. The guy is a Dbag. He tried to do the same thing to the Penguins and fell on his face in the exact same way.

Supposedly Martha Ingram/Ingram Group and the Frist family are potential buyers now.

Puddingtime, have you ever attended an NHL game before?

I've gone to plenty of .....ECHL??? I'm pretty sure it was....Kentucky Thoroughblades used to be here in Lexington. They got bought and shipped off somewhere for no reason....great attendance, great team, great record. Quite a few ex-Thoroughblades are in the NHL right now. Zdeno Chara (sp?) comes to mind.

Thanks for the heads-up, Burton. Man, I'm smiling ear to ear! I hope they are here to stay.

btw, it's Hamilton, Ontario. It'd be kinda weird if someone referred to our cities as Nashville, USA. Just saying.

Besides having followed Hamilton's situation for a while, they seem to be the city that never could quite close the deal on NHL hockey. Copps Coliseum was built in the 80s as a means to lure an NHL team but it never happened. Some say it's because Toronto and Buffalo ownership have so much clout in the NHL that there's no way a 3rd team would be allowed(even though much of Southwestern Ontario would be supportive of a Hamilton team, and I'm talking about ppl in London, ON, ppl in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, ppl in Guelph, ON, and folks over by Brantford, ON).

I think that Nashville is an example of a Sunbelt team that can succeed and it's perfectly understandable as to why Canadian fans look down on us and our perceived lack of interest in Pro Hockey. In all honesty I'd like to see NHL Hockey return to Quebec City and Winnipeg, and a team come to Hamilton. That of course means some teams down here may have to be relocated. And then you have ppl in Hartford that want the Whalers again, so it really gets into an interesting discussion.

Here's some Canadian perspective on the whole situation:

After all the bitching and moaning Winnipeg and Hartford did when they lost their teams it would be ridiculous for either of them to get it through relocating another team.

And for the record I hate those moosefockers after all of this.

When the team flops, lets all (everyone that likes or cares about hockey in Canada) send Bettman a dead fish with "Told you so." painted on the side.

He deserves it.
