NEW YORK (AP) -- Brandon Webb and Chien-Ming Wang went head-to-head, sinker for sinker, and even the NL Cy Young Award winner was unable to stop the surging Yankees.

Wang outpitched Webb in a marquee matchup of exceptional sinkerballers, and streaking Bobby Abreu hit an early three-run homer to help New York beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1 on Tuesday night for its seventh consecutive victory.

Don't look now but the Yankees are on fire.

Dont worry I wont look. lol
As long as the yanks are in this years AL, they wont make the playoffs. No way they catch boston for the division and the AL wildcard will be tougher to capture than winning any division in the NL. Thats just how good the AL is this year.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Joe Torre found his new lucky spot in the dugout, then watched Alex Rodriguez, Andy Pettitte and the rest of the team go to work.

Yep, things are falling into place nicely for the New York Yankees.

Rodriguez drove in two more runs, Pettitte breezed for eight innings and the Yankees won their ninth straight game, beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1 Thursday.

As a Sox fan I have to admit I wasn't pleased when the Yanks were only 7.5 back. It's still a huge lead, but with more than half a season remaining that's certainly surmountable. I like everything back in it's rightful place, with the Yanks back 11 games now.

I was at the game Friday night, and as much as I dislike the guy there's no doubt ARod is a beast. I think he went 4-4 with a walk and hit a laser each time. It was pretty amusing being in the OF bleachers though. The Yanks and Giants fans were being complete a-holes to each other to the extent I was waiting for the inevitable fight. Somehow they remained in control...so much so that there was actually playful shoving that never turned into flying fists. These people definitely didn't know each other before the game, so it was pretty bizarre.

The obvious highlight would have to be witnessing Bonds' HR but a close 2nd would have to be my buddy's verbal argument with a Yanks fan. He asked how they could possibly talk s#$t when they are 10.5 games back, and the Yanks fan responded with a crack on the Giants' sucktitude. My friend then yelled back, "jokes on you! we're not even Giants fans!" The confusion on the guys face was priceless.
