Not too much of a stretch... who's the best coach in the SEC???
Not Saban.
Not Meyer.
Not Tubby.
Not Richt.
Not Miles.
Not Phats.
Hands down, it's Spurrier!

i don't see how that's so far fetched when spurrier is 1-1 against the Vols at South Carolina...sure tennessee is better than when sc beat them in 05'...but SC is a lot better too...i'd say it'll be about an even match up...not saying we're gonna win...but its not that far fetched

Carolina is going to be a great team this season. Ive been telling my buddies in college that they have a very real chance to win the east. Their argument is the offense is going to be terrible. However, Spurrier is an offensive genius in college at least. If his defense is as advertised. Look out. Ill be weary when the cocks come to Athens and play Between the Hedges the second week of the season.

No question the armpit of the south will be a legit team...in a couple of years. Not 11 and 1 this year. And sure, these days I always have to "be weary" when any SEC team comes to play between the Hedges, but South Carolina isn't quite ready to come into Athens and pull off the upset in my opinion. First of all, it is the first SEC game of the season for both teams; therefore, homefield advantage plays even a larger role than usual. Secondly, the Dawgs start the season off with Okie State, somewhat better competition than the ULL Ragin' Cajuns. Lastly, Blake Mitchell (2006 Dawgs/Cocks game...Segrams 7, Blake Mitchell 0). Enough said.

Where do you get off calling Carolina the armpit of the south. Athens is the cesspool. Have you ever been to downtown Athens on a Saturday or Sunday morning? It smells like the cross between a papermill, county dump, and a manure pile. The college president's no tolerance policy on alcohol is a joke. It would be nice is the guys and girls of UGA would at least go to a restroom when they relieve themselves.
Regarding 2007, I hope Geaux is right. We will be a better team than last year and if we catch teams at the right time (including LSU) we can do some damage. However, I still say that 08 will be our breakout year.

USC can't throw out the "if" scenarios anymore. They have the coach and have the players, now they just have to do it. I believe they are the dark horse team since the majority of people aren't giving them any respect. this is their best year to get it done. If they don't this year, it is going to be a couple more years before they get back to this "hyped" level. They have a lot of seniors in the playmaker positions. I'm hoping they start out slow again at least past week two. After that, I don't care.
Unfortunately, I'll be in Columbia watching games with my wife (the USC homer) and her family since they have season tickets. I just get drunk and watch the games on tv and hang out with my buds from work.
I will be in Athens for the USC game woofing for the DAWGS!!

EAsy Dr. Pepper. Both places have their good and bad. USC has homeless people living around their buildings. Nothing like urine and defication around the building. I've hauled off and ran off many of the homeless from around the buildings.
Athens does have its problems, but so does every place.

BE CRITICAL IF YOU WISH BUT THIS IS HOW I SEE 2007
I can boil down Carolina's season in 11 words!
"It all depends on how our Quarterbacks PLAY and SPECIAL TEAMS"
We will all know a lot more about BLAKES marurity in the closing minutes of OUR win in ATHENS !!!!
IF YOU FOLLOW FOOTBALL YOU KNOW, IT'S HARD TO KNOCK A 5TH YEAR QB.
The rest of the team will be solid and better than last year.
Actually losing RICE may be a blessing, the D's we face will have more than 2 guys to cover making SOS even more dangerious walking the sidelines !
One overlooked factor that is very positive for USC... THE GAMECLOCK WON'T BE AGAINST SOS's OFFENCE THIS YEAR, as it was last year.
Our D? = OUTSTANDING AND TOUGHER !
Till then,
GOOD FISHIN !

Athens worse than Columbia..That area is horrible. You dont see Columbia as a top college football atmosphere but Athens is usually always up there. I agree with the post above how this is the year without much expectations. When your team is expected to win every year...IE(TENN UGA UF LSU AUB and cough cough BAMA) its much tougher. I completely disagree about the SC record. You have the toughest schedule in the SEC and not the team to back it up..If anyone could do it i would say the Tigers of LSU. But in all honestly i think the SEC will have alot of teams with 3 losses. Becuase of the play of Vandy and Kentucky brining up the rear and upsetting some higher rated programs.

Just responding to his "armpit" slam. Before he points out the speck in someones eye he needs to examine the log in his own eye.

The cocks are capable of beating any team on their schedulre. But, you can say that for half the teams in this league. Depends on how the chips fall. The cocks do have Spurrier. And, quite frankly, they've outplayed Florida the last two years. I look for them to drop a couple where folks think they should have won and take some folks thought they should lose (UF, LSU, UTk)

I expect an 8-4 season. Anything more is gravy and anything less will be a disappointment. I think our defense will be much better. My concern is our O-line.
