SEC refs held accountable

Word from Jimmy Hyams of the "sports animal" radio station, Knox, says from the SEC Football spring meetings in San Destin these tidbits:

1. Six officials fired due to substandard performance.
2. One official group suspended for one game.
3. Zero officials lost to NFL this year.
4. Two officials retired.

This should be good news, unless they hire a new set of incompetents.

So, how are they going to replace the officials lost to firing and retirement? I'm thinking the pool of competent officials isn't very large. Replay helped counter some of the poor officiating, but they somehow seem to find new ways to screw up. I'm glad the league is taking action, I just don't know if this action is going to result in better officiating.

I just wish they could review some of those pass interference calls that some of the SEC boys called.
