Me too. Now I want to pick Saban. I was rough on BD for not living up to his commitments with the new recruits, and jumping ship after saying he was prepared to sign his new UF contract. Gotta respect a guy for changing his mind and doing the right thing, even if he was initially swayed by the challenge. It was just confirmed that Orlando has let him out of his contract this morning. Come on home, Billy.

Great for gator fans, but still a pretty bitch move on Billy D's part. If he was just in talks it wouldn't really matter, but to sign a contract and cause hundreds of Magic fans to buy season tickets only to bail... thats just about as gay as it gets.

Bailing on your recruits. Bailing on the Magic. Screwing 200 new season ticket holders. Billy just pulled a Nick.

I don't know if I would call it "gay"...maybe a "bitch move" is better...but look at both sides. I agree totally with the Magic's side....but haven't you ever made a mistake? Billy D was offered the contract on Wednesday and told to have an answer by Friday...2 days to make one of the biggest decisions of his life. He made the wrong decision...it happens...heck, half the marriages that occur today are mistakes...but the mistake can be "fixed".

Point is, BD had to make a decision in haste and now, has decided it was the wrong decision. I was excited for BD...I was of course disappointed, but it was a big oppurtunity for he and his family financially...I had no "ill will"...he needs to do what's best for his family. I feel sorry for the Magic fans...but when you give a coach only a couple of days to entertain a position...you open yourself up for this kinda stuff.

GO GATORS!!!!

I see your point, WB...but I have to "take up" for BD...he was doing what he thought was best for his family...now, he's changed his mind. He's had a stellor 11 year career at UF...ran a clean and honest program...graduated 100% of his players...he made a mistake, now he's "Nick"? Sorry if I'm not so quick to judge.

I do understand the points being posted...but there's two sides to every story.

you buncha goofs...............Nick had no intention on going to Alabama when asked, in the name of integrity he was trying to finish a season and keep the attention on the Dolphins...........he finished the season, negotiated w/Bama and made a liar out of himself...........HE HATED THE NFL, WANTED BACK IN THE COLLEGE GAME

Donovan hired a coach and let a player sign a LOI knowing he was going to do the Orlando thing..................now that he's "changed his mind" it all looks forgiveable

As for Donovan ...
Two weeks before he left Florida for the Orlando Magic, Donovan let prep point guard Jai Lucas sign a letter of intent with the Gators.
Lucas chose Florida instead of Kentucky, in large part because Donovan did the same a month before.
A week before he went south on the Gators, Donovan hired Rob Lanier away from Virginia as an assistant to replace Donnie Jones, who left Florida six weeks earlier to become the head coach at Marshall.
The day before he left the SEC for the NBA, Donovan represented Florida at the SEC's annual meeting in Destin.

you see you buncha of player haters Saban was being courted by Bama while trying to finish the season w/the Dolphins BUT HE WASNT INTERESTED, HE WANTED ALL OF HIS AND THE MEDIA'S ATTENTION ON THE DOLPHINS BUT AFTER THE SEASON HE TALKED TO THE TIDE AND MADE A LIAR OUT OF HIMSELF............WHY, BECAUSE HE HATED THE NFL AND WISHED HE HAD NOT GONE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

AND IN MAKING THAT DECISION HE TOOK LESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS MONEY

so lets quit w/the saban bashing, its old, irrational and silly, he's just a new friggin coach at Alabama who happens to have a history w/LSU and more recently the Dolphins

Your thread title is deceiving. It seems your post is more about the acceptance of Saban than anything else. Aren't 'Bama fans finished whining about this yet?

are we finished whining about this yet? try reading all the threads/posts here from "non Bama" fans talking about Saban and his being a liar/loser etc before you embarrass yourself further with such naive statements

I just glanced through the thread titles on the football board and saw one thread regarding Saban. And, that was started by a...'Bama fan. Funny that.

I seem to recall rival fans asking "How many times does Saban have to turn you down?!" Of course, that rarely gets mentioned nowadays.
