Per a poster on the Cats Pause (UK's Rivals board)...
The SEC office has made several moves with its officials and crews following a review of the 2006 season, according to The Sports Animal 99.1 FM in Knoxville:
1. Six officials fired due to substandard performance.
2. One official group suspended for one game.
3. Zero officials lost to NFL this year.
4. Two officials retired.

Bet every one from the UF-UT game is gone. LSU game too. Baad calls.

Bet every one of the guys from the AU/LSU and AU/UF game are gone. They may have new Porsches, with ILUVAU vanity plates, but they won't be able to keep gas in them to drive down to the unemployment office.

Yeah the officials at the LSU game changed our entire seaon if we wouldn't of "lost" that game we would have played in the sugar bowl more than likely but o well i guess

I'd guess that the officials from the AU vs. LSU game got hit hardest. They made 5 or 6 really horrible calls in that game.
I wonder if the Pac-10 revisited the OU vs. Oregon game.

Oh man, according to my OU friends, firing would be too good for them. That game made a strong arguement for bringing crucifixion back into the 21st century.

Good, they should be held accountable for crapping it up.

Agreed. The ones from the Au-UF/Au-LSU were the worst bunch I've seen in years...hope they're a$$'s are sittin' home this season.

Refresh my memory please. I guess when they go your way you don't remember them much. But I don't remember any bad calls that cost UT the game. It could just be the massive amounts of beer intake though.

Had to have been. "JaMarcus Russell lost the ball in a crowd at the end of a scramble for a first down, which should have been his fourth turnover of the day.Tennessee definitely would have recovered the ball in LSU teritory, already in James Wilhoit field goal range, with a little under four minutes to play; from there, it's not a stretch to assume the Vols could have run down the clock and, with LSU needing the touchdown (rather than just a tying field goal) with far less time, hung on to win with a game backup quarterback." -Sunday Morning Quarterback.com

I think everyone will agree that there were bad calls both ways in that game. How about the punt that clearly hit a Tennessee player?

Yeah, there was that. That could've been overcome and wasn't "game-changing" IMO. I thought the fumble by Russell was. I'm not one of those to blame a loss on officiating though. I think you must overcome bad calls as part the game.

It's about time they cracked down. SEC officiating has been an embassassment the past few years.
There isn't a school in the conference that hasn't had a blown call cost them a game.

UF-UT? Granted...I don't recall a game this year when there wasn't at least one bad call...but I don't recall any "controversial" calls in the UF-UT game...:headscrat

Roughing the passer calls are always "iffy"...but that wasn't nearly as "apparent" as the "no-call" when your kicker "tripped" Brandon James as he was on his way for 6.
