What a sad situation. Truley a waste of a young life and a good career. God be with his friends and loved ones...

Very sad. I know it could've/should've/but, thankfully, didn't happen to me at that age. You can say all day long that people make the wrong choices, but, in the end, it's just fate. I should have been dead a dozen times over for a lot worse. I'm older and wiser about such stuff (I hope) now, but how many of us can recount mornings wondering why we're still alive? This accident could've happened in broad daylight while sober looking for a cell phone charger, notes, phone numbers, etc... I, for one, don't think it's (necessarily) 100% attributable to blood alcohol or weed. It was an accident, yet the police want to make an example of the poor guy. I'll get beat up for this but, I think cell phone use is at least as dangerous, if not more, than his blood alcohol.

yeah one and a half drinks could put anyone over the legal limit...with that BAC I doubt he was drunk...sad that thats what people will remember him for.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're saying cell phones should never be used while driving and not diminishing the significance of drunk driving. Afterall, you say there have been many mornings you woke up wondering why you were still alive. I certainly don't expect you to give us details, but I'd imagine few of those reactions were a result of talking on a cellphone while driving.

good lord, what are you drinking my friend? his blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit.

I wouldn't count on the accurracy of this calculator to hold up in court, but it's probably a decent estimate: Insure.com Car Insurance - Official site. Compare auto insurance quotes, 200 companies, instant term life insurance quotes, life insurance quotes, health insurance quotes, medical insurance quotes, dental insurance, long-term care insurance, renter's (http://info.insure.com/auto/baccalc.html)

Absolutely not. I'm definitely against drinking and driving, but I think his cell phone use at the time could have had more to do with his running into the truck than his BAC. I doubt he was so drunk he was swerving at that level. The article just hit me as trying to load misery on top of pain by painting the guy as a drug user and drunk that "made poor decisions" that killed him. All I was saying is that people shouldn't be so judgmental when it was possible that his cell phone killed him.

He should have just smoked a hog leg and stayed off the cell phone. He would still be alive. Which causes more accidents, assaults, and hospitalizations, green or alcohol? Research and decide.
