Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr
Who do you pick? Knockout? Which round?
Both have fantastic hand speed. Probably the two fastest boxers alive.
I like De La Hoya in the later rounds. If he can "weather" Mayweather's speed in the early rounds, I think he'll win.
De La Hoya is a much nicer person. Mayweather is a trash talker.

I expect Mayweather to be a whirlwind during the early rounds, but as the fight goes into later rounds (something Floyd is not accustomed to), Oscar should get the upper hand. Oscar will either knock him out late or win the decision. No doubt, however, it will be a classic in the making!

Gawd, I hope Oscar wins. I'm so sick of Floyd's immature big mouth. I really hope Oscar knocks his ass out. Floyd calling Oscar a "pussy" and a "bitch" is very bush league. He's everything I hate about boxing.

My sentiments exactly. He would be so much better served if he would try to be a nice individual. Somehow, many of the boxer types seem to think that talking like a badass makes them a badass. Mayweather is an outstanding boxer with perhaps the greatest hand speed in boxing, but his crappy attitude makes him appear to be just another second-rate sleaze ball.

he and his ilk are the reason i quit watching boxing and started watching UFC. the fighters there (excluding Tito and Rashard) are usually respectful and classy. when floyd was dancing around the press stage like a monkey, he was trying too hard to be ali and looked like a fool. i hope oscar kills him.

I'm not sure what the age difference is; I think Mayweather is 30ish and probably younger than Oscar. I've been watching their training specials on HBO and they are both training very hard. Both probably have plenty of money, but with Oscar, I think it is a pride thing more than a money thing.

I voted knockout by DLH between the 7th and 9th rounds. Personally, I cannot stand Mayweather and hope that DLH knocks him into next year. I do respect Mayweathers skills like most boxing fans and he is a phenominal fighter. But his trash talking has gotten old quick even though for the most part he backs it up. His total disrespect for DLH will hopefully catch up with him.
Here is DLH's record: Oscar De La Hoya (http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=8253)
The last time DLH was in a similar situation was against Vargas and we all know what happened. He still has the desire and from what I understand, Mayweather really has him fired up. Hopefully he can hang in there and catch Mayweather with his patented sweet left hook sometime in the later rounds.
This belongs in the Boxing section and not the commentary section.

I never even noticed the boxing section before. Thanks for pointing that out.

Just watched some of the press conference and then the commentary by Bert Sugar on ESPN, wow gotta just laugh at Mayweather acting like such a moron. Understandably, he is trying to hype the fight.
Hopefully the predictions of Sugar will come true, it will be a much closer fight than most expect.

De La Hoya is 33, and "MOUTH" is 29. Personally, I think that's as old as "MOUTH" is going to get. Nobody'll be happier than me when he can't speak because he's choking on chiclets. I agree with The Ramp... he's everything that's wrong with the fighter side of boxing. Don King is everything that's wrong with the promotional side. How some shafted boxer, or his family, hasn't killed that POS yet, is a mystery to me.
