It is being reported from some very good sources on the paid site a bomb is about to drop on Carolina football, and involves an offensive and defensive player. It is being rumored it is Cory Boyd and Jasper Brinkley. I will let you guys know as soon as I hear something. Between that and Virginia Tech today, I don't know whether to scream or cry. Or both. :brick:

Spurrier has called a team meeting at 5. This ain't good folks. Usually when he does this, someone in the 'family' ain't comin back home.

Sounds grim. I hope you're talking about a suspension rather than a tragedy.

Is Brinkley one of the brothers from Georgia? One's a LB, the other a DT?

Just some more idiots in trouble on the football team. Apparently it is Boyd, as well as SEVERAL other players. They are being investigated for a shooting incident in a nightclub over the weekend where some gang members were present. Boyd has been praised all spring and expected to be a monster RB in the SEC this year. He is a senior.

Yes, Brinkley is one of the Brinkley twins, and is our defensive leader. Jasper plays linebacker, and his brother plays DE and OLB.

Sounds like another case of great talent thrown away. All too common. Auburn's had it's share. I feel your pain.

This whole thing makes me want to throw up.

We've gotta have Cory and Jasper to compete this year. Without them, expectations go WAY down.

So far the bomb is a dud. Let's hope it stays that way.

Amazing how quiet this story has gotten.

In a club full of people they couldn't lock it down and get enough witnesses to figure out what happened?

I call BS on that one.....

I have also heard, but can't confirm, that this is Moe Thompson's moms' club. Is there any truth to that? IF SO, then it sounds more like a settup than anything else as I don't trust Moe or his mom any further than I can throw them.

Someone on the inside knows something....... spill it please.

It was Moe Thompson's mom's club (and Moe was there as well). I posted the info below in another thread, but here it is.

From the article:

This weekend’s party took place at a rental facility run by Trish Thompson, the mother of former USC football player Moe Thompson. Trish Thompson said Omega members approached her a month ago about renting the facility, located in a strip mall behind Columbia Place and known as “Carolina Athletics at Suite 169.”

Trish Thompson said fraternity members arranged for security at the party. She said she and her son were in attendance to oversee the function.

It must be tough having to deal with gangs crashing your parties. I can't imagine having to consider that a group of (potentially) armed crack heads are always going to try to attend. When I think about that very real fact, I have to be a little more restrained in my rush to judgement.

You'd have to try and stay away from all parties, but how many times have the players said no? At some point, everyone takes a chance and that may be what's happened here. These gangs would love to ruin a guy like Boyd's career.
