For the second time this season, the University of Florida men’s tennis team bounced back from dropping the doubles point to get a 4-3 win as the Gators edged Vanderbilt Friday afternoon in Gainesville.
With the victory, UF improved to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in Southeastern Conference play. The Commodores slipped to 8-11 overall and 2-7 in the league.
Vanderbilt got the early 1-0 lead by taking wins on the number two and three doubles courts. However, UF’s Jesse Levine and Greg Ouellette (No. 6) improved to 12-2 on the season as they defeated Ryan Preston and Vijay Paul at the top of the order, 8-4.
Singles play saw the match tied on three occasions before senior Jordan Dolberg provided the clincher on court five as he outlasted Andy Mack (6-1, 3-6, 6-3). The win was Dolberg’s first in his last four outings and was his fourth over an SEC opponent.
