Strong doubles play and solid depth propelled the fourth-ranked University of Florida women's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over 16th-ranked Vanderbilt on a cold Friday afternoon at the Currey Tennis Complex.
The win kept the Gators within a half-match of first place in the Southeastern Conference standings, as Florida improved to 16-1 overall and 7-1 in league action. League-leaders Georgia and South Carolina won their respective matches on Friday, improving their conference records to 8-1 in the 11-match SEC season.
On Friday, Florida snapped a two-match losing streak in Nashville to Vanderbilt (14-7, 7-2 SEC), as the Gators captured their first win on the Commodores' home courts since April 1, 2000.
