Florida is simply not satisfied with the consecutive basketball championships and a BCS title. Now they want the Fulmer Cup too? In one week UF jumps from zero points to eleven.

University of Florida offensive lineman Ronnie Matthew Wilson was arrested early Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, simple battery and use or display of a concealed weapon during the commission of a felony, a Gainesville Police arrest report stated.
Police accused Wilson, 19, of shooting a semi-automatic rifle after a dispute with another man, according to the report.
Wilson later told police he took the rifle out of his trunk and fired one shot into the air because he wanted the other man “to know how it felt to be scared,” the report stated.

What an idiot.....he was a good OL, too.
To bad for him...although, I'm sure there's a 5-star guy waiting to take his spot;)...remember, we also won the Recruiting National Championship, too...:)

I expect either Maurice Hurt or LaShawn Pouncey to take his spot for the rest of spring. Heading into the fall, it could be a three horse race for the spot between those two and incoming freshman James Wilson for the remaining spot. Stupid, stupid, stupid on Wilson's part... The O-Line was supposed to be our strong spot, too. I hope Meyer does something to send the message to the team that this kind of stupidity will not be tolerated on the team. Doe got off without a suspension but look for harsh punishment for anyone else that starts breaking rules. Especially with a team this young, Meyer knows he needs to keep the discipline to a maximum.

Yeah, I don't know all the details from Doe's incident but it didn't sound like anything too egregious. He may not get suspended but I'm sure behind the scenes he's getting run like crazy by the coaching staff. I'd imagine it's been made perfectly clear that another offense will have at least a significant suspension, if not dismissal.
As for Wilson, it's not so much the gunshot that is disturbing as much as it is the attitude the he needed to show someone what fear is. What kind of BS is that? This is a young man in serious need of an attitude change or we'll be reading about him actually shooting someone or getting shot himself. Obviously he's either going to be dismissed or suspended for the season and forced to get help (if he's not spending the season in jail to begin with). No matter what UF or the legal system decides to do I just hope this kid gets a grip on the real world before it's too late.

I agree 100%... football player or not you can't do stuff like that without some serious consequences.

I've lived in places where that stunt would have gotten him shot. That's pretty da.n stupid. Like the others said, hopefully Meyer breaks it off in him. Fortunately, we don't just have the one Pouncey, they were a twin package deal. James and LaShawn are both 6'4" 310lbs., and probably itching for their chance. Maybe he'll see what his behavior will do for his athletic career sooner than later.

Fulmer Cup? I thought that was an award to the coach who can eat the most? Any votes for Phil Fulmer or Charlie "the chocolate factory" Weis?

 That's good! I think he's done a fine job of proving he can't win football games... anywhere. Hopefully Meyer will crack knuckles, and let the "illustrious coach" of the Illini win something.

Wilson charged with aggravated assault, battery
Florida offensive lineman Ronnie Matthew Wilson was arrested Thursday, accused of firing a semiautomatic rifle in the air during a dispute with another man that started in a nightclub.
Wilson, 19, has been suspended from team activities, coach Urban Meyer said. Wilson was charged with aggravated assault, simple battery and the use or display of a concealed weapon during the commission of a felony, according to jail records.
"Obviously, this is a major concern," Meyer said.
The victim, whose name was not released, said Wilson spit on him and slapped him on the right side of his face inside the XS nightclub. Wilson told police he had spit on the victim but denied hitting him.
When Wilson left the club, the victim followed him in his car and called police to give them vehicle information. According to a police report, Wilson pulled into a parking lot, where he took the rifle out of his trunk and fired one shot in the air because he wanted the other man "to know how it felt to be scared."
Fearing he would be shot, the victim ducked down and put his car into reverse. As he was going backward, he heard a gunshot, the report said.
Police said the victim left the parking lot and was followed by Wilson, who broke off the chase when he saw police cars.
According to the report, Wilson then went to an apartment complex and hid the rifle and magazine in his cousin's apartment, where they were recovered by police.
Wilson was being held in the Alachua County Jail awaiting his first court appearance. It was not known if he had a lawyer.
The university's sports information office said it had no comment on the arrest.
Wilson, 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, enrolled as a redshirt freshman in the spring of 2005.
