Come on, you see how Vandy and Kentucky give UF fits, and after last year's upset over UGA as a visiting team then anything's possible at home. Likewise, look at the record for Miami(OH) last year and also what promises are there that Wake will even be half as good as they were last year?

Ole Miss will be a win, ditto Alabama(and that will be a sad dose of reality to the Sabaniacs)

No, but w/ Bobby Johnson it is the 90's version of Furman! LOL  . If Vandy were in the Southern Conference they would run the table but in the SEC this team will struggle.

No offense to the Vandy fans here, I just don't see the same talent level(players & coaches) or depth that so many of the other SEC schools have.

Sept. 1, 2007 Richmond - W.....But close due to first game jitters.
Sept. 8, 2007 Alabama - L....At least a 17 point win.
Sept. 15, 2007 Ole Miss - W....Vandy wins by a FG
Sept. 29, 2007 Eastern Michigan - W....Close.
Oct. 6, 2007 at Auburn - L....Auburn wins by 10.
Oct. 13, 2007 Georgia - L....20 point stomping for the dawgs.
Oct. 20, 2007 at South Carolina - L....I would say around a 10 point win for SC.
Oct. 27, 2007 Miami-OH - W....Vandy wins by 21.
Nov. 3, 2007 at Florida - L....Close game, well during the first half, UF rolls.
Nov. 10, 2007 Kentucky - W....I think Vandy wins this season, in OT.
Nov. 17, 2007 at Tennessee - L....Tenn. just stomps Vandy, 24+
Nov. 24, 2007 Wake Forest - W....Vandy wins by 2 points against defending ACC Champs.

I think Vandy can beat Alabama, not will though. Most likely Alabama will win, but Vandy beat UGA last year and gave the NCs Florida troubles. They can play with the big boys, and with Alabama having some growing pains and lack of depth on the defensive side of the ball, Vandy has the potential to put up enough points to win.

its true they got chris nickson (came from the same school system i work in) at QB and earl at WR but i doubt they have enough talent to even overcome a depleted alabama defense.

vandy can surprise a few SEC teams if they're not careful, but i sure hope Bama has learned from past mistakes about being overconfident against an SEC opponent.

Wow, that was way out in left field. jk Vandy doesn't have the offensive fire power (Outside of Chris Nickson) to hang with CNS's defense, especially since he's been a defensive minded coach his entire career. Besides, doesn't Alabama have the #1 overall DT class in the Nation according to rivals.com? Talk about a full on pass rush against a typically sub-par Vandy squad. I fully expect Bama to win by 2 TD's or more at Vanderbilt.

Granted, Bama does lack some depth, because Terrance Jones and Juwan Simpson, among others, have departed Bama on defense, but I doubt Bama struggles with Vandy this time around. Remember, Vandy beat UGA in 2006 and gave UF fits in 2006, however 2007 is a brand new year and that spells a fresh new start for the Tide.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will and does have the offense to clobber the 'Dores soundly, even if CNS's defense is predominately a young group. Vandy has and explosive QB and WR (mind you, he only had one Reception for 15 yards against Bama), but Bama will have and entire offense that Vandy's Defense will have to contend with this season.

Prediction: Alabama 28 - Vandy 17

The problem with the "#1 DT class in the nation" is that a) Kerry Murphy is not going to qualify and Luther Davis is borderline (maybe worse?), and b) they are true freshmen.. very few kids come out of high school physically able to play SEC football. Even if Kerry Murphy had the grades to make it, he is out of shape and was 2nd string on his Hoover team.

The problem for Alabama won't just be at DT.. they have 0 depth in the entire front 7. Thats why Saban has been "experimenting" with guys like Pharr on the defensive side of the ball. Prince Hall is the only guy in the front 7 who would start on other mid-level/upper tier SEC teams.

Saban will surely be able to fill the starting roles with able players, but 2nd string is going to be weak at best, barring some phenomenon of young talent and ability in a lot of freshmen.

I hate to admit it, but you are on to something. I don't expect a NC caliber team in 2007, or even to win the West (maybe second place  ). The defense has some issues, but it's nothing our offense and special teams can't make up for until Bama gets it together on defense. My point was that I don't believe Vandy has the firepower or speed to "out-offense" Alabama for a win, even with home field advantage.

Underestimating Vandy in 2006 wasn't smart, for any team, fan, or coach. They damn near beat Bama, they beat UGA, and the were one game away from being bowl eligible and keeping Bama from playing in the post season (I believe Vandy would have gotten a bowl bid over Bama last season based on quality wins alone, i.e. UGA).

I refuse to underestimate Vandy's O vs. Bama's D. However, the Tide's offense should be ready for almost anybody, especially with KB and DJ Hall returning along with Nikita Stover. Our backfield isn't exactly a slouching group of ogres either.

i'd have to disagree with you here. our DE's are actually good, but it was the type of defense we ran that prohibited them from getting a lot of sacks. expect things to change with saban cause he loves to blitz. our DT's are so thin right now, this is probably one of few positions a true freshman can come in and get some pt.

One thing about Johnson is he will have Vanderbilt playing very disciplined, and very fundimentally sound. That may make the difference against defenses that are much more talented, but also are young and inexperienced.
