For fighting in a group of 20+ people. When police arrived he apparently tried to flee the scene.

What are the current Fulmer Cup standings? I know the hogs have 1, SC has at least 1, and now FL.... Who did I miss?

That sucks. Will some one tell me this is one of Zooks recruits so I can feel a little better?

This might not show up in the Fulmer Cup since it is run by a group of Florida guys. That Fox Sports article is 19 hours old and Doe still hasn't shown up on EDSBS.

Looks like they left a "P" out of his last name. Nice try though, Blake, with the whole "fleeing the scene" BS. Turning to walk away is hardly fleeing the scene. We'll see what it all amounts to. Somebody could've started a fight with him, as easily as the other way around.

Well it's technically "fleeing the scene." There is no "walking away from the scene." it's just not the COPS variety with running and jumping over fences only to be eventually caught and beaten with nightsticks for running like the convict you are.

Edit: Of course, he probably wasn't charged with fleeing anyway. Just some sort of public disturbance misdemeanor probably. Community service and grass drills for him.

Well, that's my point. "Fleeing the scene" is a technical term used by police when they charge somebody. He wasn't charged with fleeing the scene, so he was merely walking away. Nobody says fleeing the scene in daily conversation. "There was a big fight, and then everybody left." VS. "This is unit 43, we have a public altercation with multiple participants fleeing the scene." And I've NEVER seen anyone flee by walking. That's an oxymoron.

Wouldn't work in a fight in a parking garage but if it was a large fight out on a busy street, simply walking away would probably be the smartest thing to do. With innocent bystanders around you could just blend in a whole lot easier if you walked away rather than ran away.

This really doesn't apply to Doe since the fight was in an isolated location and he's a big football player that won't go unnoticed in a crowd...but just a helpful option to consider in case you ever find yourself in a large altercation

I'll remember that! Thankfully, I haven't been in a fight in about 20 years.

Some people can walk awfully fast. I've been in the mall in the early morning and seen those old women can move.

 Hadn't thought about that! You ever notice how much faster they can go on the rare occasions some unruly teens get there early? They're all looking at each other like it's code for "time to go!"

EDIT: Reminds me of sparrows warning each other when a hawk's flying over.

I only hang around 50 year olds plus some except when I'm at school. In my age bracket, walking could be considered fleeing!
If I'm ever in a large disturbance of 50 plus people, I think I'll just lay down and pretend that I was knocked out or fainted. I certainly would not engage in the situation since at the tender age of 58, i don't want to get my butt kicked by a 70 or 80 year old.

Has anyone ever seen a bunch of cockroaches scatter when the lights come on....I think that might apply here.

Look at the Fulmer Cup standings and you'll feel a LOT better. I doubt anyone catches Illinois this year.

I'd figure it wouldn't, because it's a UF site.
