Florida RB Williams tears ACL, will likely miss season
March 31, 2007
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida running back Mon Williams tore his ACL and will likely miss the upcoming season, Coach Urban Meyer said Friday.
"It's a bad deal because he was really coming on," Meyer said. "The negative is he's going to probably miss next year. I'm not a doctor and I don't know the healing process... I have great confidence in our medical staff and I have great confidence in what kind of worker Mon Williams is."
Williams, who played sparingly in a reserve role for the Gators last year, was in the mix to start for the Gators in the fall.
He rushed for 101 yards on 13 carries. Williams likely will seek a medical redshirt this year.
The injury occurred Wednesday in a non-contact situation.
