The BCS+1 proposal that they seemed to mostly agree on is the one that many fans agree with as it doesn't destroy the bowl system.

Thank god we have great men like Tommy Tuberville leading the charge. We may see a playoff or BCS+1 someday after all.

Fixed. But yes, the BCS+1 would be fantastic.

Well everyone knows he's not a great man but is a great coach. It is good though that he is pushing for the +1 format.
Oh and I like using the strikethrough for some reason.

How can you say what kind of man he is based on a few quotes you've seen or views of others presented on message boards?
It's usually best not to judge what kind of man someone is without....you know....actually knowing him.
PS- I'm not saying he's a great man. I have no clue what kind of man he is. He comes off a little cocky, maybe arrogant, but does that mean he's a bad person??

Two words will always be associated with Tuberville and Ole Miss fans: pine box.

I understand, but can you honestly hold that against him? Coaches are always under the scrutiny of the public eye and if they truely speak their mind they could end up without a job. I'm sure you understand that with Saban, and I certainly don't hold it against him.

I think you mean great men like UF President, Bernie Machen, who's been leading this charge for a while, now. TuberVile being in attendance is hardly leading the charge. No wonder you AU guys think you're a dominant program. Can't even read a story without misinterpreting the whole thing. The only reason TuberVile is even mentioned is because his team just happens to be the one bent over the farthest with the BCS broken off in it. But, the news sounds promising, anyway.

this doesnt mean the death of the bowl games, just the system. you have to make your way to the bowl games. have a playoff for the top 16 or something. then the top 8 play in games. then the top 4 play in the "bowl" games or w/e. bad example but we dont have to say down with the bowl games, just the last games leading to the championship could be the bowl games.

This is sounding good. I hope it happens.
The next step? Expect more chatter when the BCS commissioners gather for their annual meeting April 23-24 in New Orleans.
If anyone can get us e-mail addresses of the BCS commissioners, maybe we can send them some opinions before their meeting.

Did I say he was a bad person? I'll check but I'm pretty sure I didn't. He's just not great. He's just a plain old average man who happens to be a really good football coach.

Auburn is the martyr for the cause of the SEC and others who want the playoff system. Without us and those who have been screwed by it, there wouldn't be much of an argument to begin with!

The Oklahoma debacle of 2003 was the catalyst. Auburn added fuel to the fire.

but yet we continue to hear about Saban being a liar by Auburn fans......not being a homer, just pointing out that as fans we need to not be so patently homerish when putting down the others coach

But it still doesn't totally fix it. What if Auburn is unfairly ranked #5 in the BCS? But it is still better than nothing.

I'll agree Auburn has become the poster child, but many teams have been getting the short end of the stick. Utah, Boise State, etc.. Not to mention the ridiculous split NC for LSU/USC. That's infuriating because the whole point of the BCS is to have one champion; but USC won't let that AP BS go.

I would like to see LSU/USC in the title game this year. Could you imagine the media hype for that game?

Well thats sort of how it is with all playoff systems.. eventually someone has to be left out, but as long as its the #11 team instead of the #3 and #4 then its easier to say who the top team is.

We won't see a playoff for a long time, IMO. The NCAA won't risk their Tax Exempted to get any resemblance of a playoff. Now, if the NCAA loses their Tax status in the near future they might think about it. I seen article awhile back that they might lose their Tax Status, so it may come sooner or later, but Time will tell.
