Kentucky Wildcats, NCAA Football - CBS SportsLine.com (http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10071669)

I just found it a bit shocking that a national sportswriter is finding some interest in UK football at this time of year (heck, for any time of year for that matter). I realize it's Dennis Dodd, and he's not the greatest football mind, by any stretch, but it's still neat to me. I personally am too skeptical to think that UK will have anything like the success we had last year. I pray that I am wrong. I have a healthy optimism about our offense, but i'm not convinced that the D will get any better under Steve Brown (even the guy's name is vanilla...how is his version of D gonna be better? ). Spring practice kicks off soon with the Blue White game on April 21 (I think). I suppose we'll get a glimpse then.

Personally, I think Woodson will make UK competitive in every game. With big wins over UGA and cLIMPson as a springboard, you should be looking forward to this year. Maybe he can overcome the short-comings of the D. You'll just have to do a lot of scoring. UF might, too, unless our young class can compete right away.

With Burton, Little and Woodson calling the shots, there is no excuse for Kentucky to at least not win the East. They have everything in place to be one of the best teams in the history of the program

Yeah, success would definitely be driven by the offense, no doubt. We have no back-up for Woodson, though (not yet). Pulley is redshirting to save a year, knowing that he has no shot to overcome Woodson, leaving 2 frosh to compete for back-up (Will Fidler, Micheal Hartline). If Woodson goes down we're dead. Plus, even if he doesn't, we have an unproven O-line coming back, and we're going to "sneak up" on NOBODY this year. That tells me that the D will have to step it up big time for us to even think about 8 wins again.

As for UF, I didn't realize so many of your defensive guys had jumped to the NFL. I still think you guys are the team to beat in the East until proven otherwise, though. You've probably got guys on your bench that have never played who could start at UK today, so I'm expecting that you'll just reload and play "business as usual".

Meyer plays a lot of his freshmen, anyway. And, he thinks some of the defensive guys coming in are already strong enough. What they need is technique and endurance. We'll see how much of that they can get before the season starts. And, there are a few guys who were backups that might do well. It's hard to say this early.

Little known fact: Hartline has a better arm than Woodson and when he starts he will be compared to Couch

Yeah, I've heard that he's really good. But I just don't put much stock in the scouting/recruiting reports. Micah Jones was supposed to be an all-world lineman, too. Don't get me wrong, I hope you're right. We'll need him to be Couch-like replacing Woodson.

Our O-line could be our downfall..........I think it is the KEY to our offense.

Woodson is smart enough to change up the offense if need be if the defense is too much, just look what he did in the Clemson game, he WON that game by calling audibles left and right.
