First day of Bama spring practice, so rolltide.com decides to put out a set of photos... how about 13 pictures of Nick Saban running around the field and 3 players?  This obsession is unhealthy!

God I'm so glad Auburn's staff is intelligent enough to take pictures of the actual players who make up the team and their progress.
Not to mention 2 of the pictures with players are John Wilson walking around limp-wristed and Andre Smith committing a hold (no surprise there).

I think the traditional posters have made it clear that the Bama bashing has gone too far. For the love of God, can we please talk about women's softball or gymnastics, or maybe even men's fishing?

You've GOT to be kidding me!!! Too bad there's no pics of those "athletes"!! How stunning that Bama would be ranked #1....making the leap from #8 at that!! I would ask what the scoring format is and how you "rank" "teams", but I'm afraid somebody might actually answer that. It's good to know that the bowling teams actually have somebody to make fun of at these schools!!

are you saying that is not Andre, because it's certainly a hold by somebody. You can grasp the player's jersey as long as you are engaging them, and they are in front of you, engaging you. But when there's separation, or your opponent turns away from you, or starts to move away from you, and you're still holding his jersey like that, with his arms outstretched, that will usually guarantee a holding call every time.
Unless it only happens for a split-second, and he's immediately released. Then some umps let it slide. But others who catch a glimps of it at the end, and therefore don't know how long it lasted, will still throw the flag.....

considering I don't have a video and only a picture, you just described why I said that isnt a hold

I guess it's to everyone's individual perception, but the photo looks to me like his opponent has turned away from him, and is running to the side. i.e. NOT engaging him. Maybe he was just a second ago, but he's not now in that picture. But "Andre" still has a good hold of his jersey, and his arms are extended as far as they can go. Again, if it's a total duration of a split-moment, it wouldn't be worth any thing in a real game: no harm, no foul. But based on that still shot, IMO he's holding.....

I would say you are the one with the obsession. Out of your last 4 post that I have seen 3 of them are about Saban. You are in the BOL forum a lot also. I know it's scary when the sleeping giant is about to wake up.

I know it's scary when the sleeping giant is about to wake up.Why is that so common? If you listen to any sports talk radio in Alabama you will find out two things. Alabama fans will call in to the show to discuss Alabama (of course), and 99.999% of Auburn fans will call in and want to discuss......Alabama football!!

Well, they always say that the first step to overcomming a problem is admitting that you have one. This Aubsession of yours and ever other Auburn fan on here who can't stop thinking of Alabama IS unhealthy. Go walk your dog, take some prozac, or play with your kids. Jeeze, even when you guys are up, you're down. Little brothers........

Here's a novel idea northfla......TALK ABOUT AUBURN FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!:brick:
You guys are still predicted to take the '07 Iron Bowl and are head to head with LSU to represent the west in the SEC title game. Surely there must be something substantial within all that pre-season hype to talk about that isn't directly affiliated with Alabama. I guess there was Brandon Cox and his spring game MVP, that's a start.

Azamugg's point about it being just a photo are valid. At a glance it looks like the defender has turned to pursue the play to his left. However, since we can't clearly see the direction of the play, the defender could very well be attempting a spin move to come across Andre's left. If the two of them had been directly engaged just prior to a potential spin move then Andre's grasp would be legitimate as the defender would still be engaging him in a different direction. Whether it's a hold or not can't be clearly judged without video.
