I just got to thinking about it and realized that Weinke was an important milestone in College Football and I have to wonder if we'll ever see anymore players that enter College Football in the same way and age as Weinke?

What're your thoughts?

We've already got one in basketball. You've heard of Greg Oden, right? That guy's 40 if he's a day.

Oh, you mean Lebron's dad? Yeah I always did think it was kinda weird how he's still playing college ball.

Judging from the "classes" he's taking in college, I'd say he probably had a little trouble getting out of high school.

Oden carries a 3.9 GPA and some of the classes he is taking deals with his major and are not as easy as some would think.

Nut... he's taking Sociology 101 for 5 credits, History of Rock 'n' Roll for 5 credits, and he "gets" 2 credits for being a basketball player. Obviously, a varsity basketball player doesn't need to take a basketball PE.:azz: What's he studying to be? A counselor for burned-out and washed-up rock stars? ;)

Yeah, I already read his bio. None of those classes were necessary for Business Adm. when I was in college except the Sociology 101; and it wasn't even a core class. Let's be honest. He's taking the easiest path that still allows him to play ball. He obviously won't stay long enough to graduate; so, it really doesn't matter what he's taking. It'd be nice to see him do what Emmitt Smith did, and come back to get his degree. I was only poking fun in the first place, but let's not try to justify his class load and say it's legitimate. We all have student-athletes doing the same thing. Yes, even UF has some dubious majors that make me laugh.

I remember when everyone was ragging on Andy Katzenmoyer from tOSU for taking golf and aids awareness calling him stupid but he was actually a very smart guy.

At least golf wasn't the same sport he was playing for the school. AIDS awareness sounds like a legitimate class. I do counseling in high-risk behavior, including AIDS and other communicable disease education.

getting back to the original topic. Ole Miss currently has a rising sophomore QB in Cliff Davis who played a few years of pro-ball before returning to the grid-iron. Don't think he is quite as old as Weinke was when he came back, though.
