Wow! I can't believe this one. IMO, this is a great pick up for Minnesota to up their bottom dwellar status in the Big 10. Another great coach and team in the toughest basketball conference the the country.

Yeah hes going to minnesota for a vacation. He just wanted to get away from the stresses of not winning NC's ever year at UK.
Minnesota will be better under Tubby but probably wont be a real threat to win the big 10 year in and year out.

 ...that was funny, KN!

Smith is runnin' away from the toughest basketball conference...and one of the toughest jobs in the Nation.

Your just jealous! j/k!

I think that he will do well at Minnesota. Wisconsin pretty much has the lockdown on the Canadian / Northern US. recruits so it will be interesting to see how Minnesota does in recruiting this year. Minnesota is actually the thrid largest school in the nation this year in enrollment behind tOSU and ASU which i found unbelievable. Minnesota has a really nice campus and they are starting to build top notch facilities like their new football stadium.

No, even do I think the SEC is the toughest Basketball Conference in America, but I think he's running away from CBB most scrutinized job.

Kentucky is definetly one of the top 3 coaching positions in CBB IMO. Minnesota is trying hard to turn their athletic programs around with a new football coach and now Tubby. They are also building a new football stadium and basketball arena. Guess they are sick of sucking?

I don't blame Tubby...leaving a school that is only satisfied with NCs...to go to a program that is "starving" for success. No brainer.

The margin between any of those numbers isn't that spread out. See if you can find a comparison between Florida's and Ohio State's basketball schedule. Just think that would be a little more interesting.

UF's RPI rank is 6th and tOSU's is 1st. Your SOS is higher, too, by virtue of having to play UW twice. I'll concede that the 10 has had the highest # of ranked teams and the most highly ranked. My point is that there is a kind of logjam in the SEC, where any team might beat another on a given night. Nobody(besides UF) ever gets ahead because of the parity. It would make sense that that's why we only had 5 teams make the tourney, and still had 3 in the running until last night. They are all pretty equal. Even all our teams that made the NIT had virtually the same record(or better) as Arky.

Just think...the SEC had more Sweet 16 teams than the Big 10 and ACC combined
