UT and Lofton are looking good early. Lofton is shooting lights out already. He's drilling 3-pointers with guys in his face. I sure hope I don't have to say "I told you so" about the run-n-gun offense against tOSU. Not really. I hope the VOLS hang 100 on tOSU, so I can say it.

Damn!!! That was the Vols' game for the taking. That's a very disapointing way to end a great season. Big props to OSU!! That was an incredible 2nd half!! All the credit in the world goes to Donley and Co. Lewis was amazing! At least the Bucks saved me from spending alot of money on Saturday! Good luck against Memphis!
Thank you Coach Pearl and the Vols for a great season!! Thanks for the memories, Dane!!

Congrats on the win KillerNut. Great comeback by your Buckeyes. That was a great game to watch, and I stayed up until the very end last night watching it. I'm sure that the Tennessee fans have to be disappointed, but both teams played their hearts out last night. Neither team deserved to lose the game, but unfortunately, only one team could go on to the Elite 8. One of the best games to watch in the Tournament so far IMO.

New rule for Ohio State: Sit your whole team on the bench until the score is 60-0 in the first half. Then play the second half the way you always do and get the win at the end of the second half.

Man OSU found a clutch and they are using it late in games! Big props to OSU man they are tough to put away.

My brackets are starting to make me look good. I had tOSU playing memphis in the elite 8. Kansas has defeated SIU in the sweet 16 just like I thought as well.
I also have Florida & UNC advancing to the final 4.
I really need my teams to come through for me because I picked 1 upset in all my brackets and thats Memphis over OSU (not likely)
Hows everyone else doing?

I had all 4 of the winners in my bracket from yesterday's games (Saturday I have UCLA and Ohio State going to the Final 4). In today's games I have North Carolina, Georgetown, Florida, and Wisconsin (which is already a miss). Then, Florida and G'Town move on Sunday.

I think it was a great comeback by tOSU. I also think UT played the second half trying to protect their lead, instead of playing the same attacking game that got them up by 20 in the first place. That same attacking game I said would doom the Buckeyes. And it still will, if a team plays it for a whole game; and doesn't decide they've scored all they need by halftime. Watching UT walk the ball up the floor in the second period was one of the most perplexing things I've ever watched in big-time college ball. I don't expect any of the top seeds (UF, UNC, or Memphis) to make that same mistake. If UT had simply played the same attacking game in 2 halves, they'd have easily dropped a c-note on the Bucks. Tale of two halves. Anyway, I'll give the congrats. Congratulations on beating the #4 SEC team by 1.

I've got a sneaky feeling the guys heard about it at halftime of that game. We came out much stronger in the second period. That's gotten to be a bad habit for UF. Playing slow in the first, and making 20-30 point turnarounds in the second. And, we still won by 7, not a foul shot. I don't think it's the same story in this game. UT definitely played a much slower style in the 2nd, and looked like they were afraid to lose their lead; as opposed to adding to it.

Purdue was the number 3 team in the Big 10 this year. My brackets are still pretty good with the only team that I have screwed up on so far in the Sweet 16 is Wisconsin and Michigan St.

So what about this one man team?

The Gators have been playing "at the level of the competition"...I look for the Gators to really turn it on tonight. Did the same last season.

As far as OSU-UT...I agree with Gator...UT attacked OSU in the first half and OSU couldn't handle it. The second half, the only player going after the Bucks was Loften...the rest were playing to protect the lead....allowing open looks from 3 and protecting the post....problem was, the Bucks started hitting the 3s. Terrible game plan by Pearl. With 30+ seconds left...the OSU PG is runnin' the clock down for a chance at a final shot...why not foul him? He's missed several FTs....at least you get the ball for a chance yourself. Yet, the UT player decides to take the game into his own hands and drive for a shot as the final seconds ticked away....not very smart. Call a TO and give Loften a chance to win it.

BTW, I'm really not drinkin' the Oden Kool-Aid. He's a good player...but is he deserving of all the attention? Did he make a great play last night? That ball didn't have a chance of going in...even the announcers said as much. Actually in all honesty, Oden should have cost his team's tournament life in the last game with an uncalled flagrant foul. No disrespect to him, he is a special player...but there's better. I had to laugh at one of the basketball preseaon mags that had Oden, a kid that had never played a game of college basketball, penciled in as 1st team AA at center...that's just funny.:)

If you have or had ever seen any of his HS highlights, you would understand why. 4 straight Indiana HS state championships. Remember both Oden and Conley were teammates in HS. Besides the same was done with LeBron James in HS. If it wasn't for the 1 year rule Oden would be in the NBA. I had to hear about how great LBJ in HS when I played basketball and he beat us in state semi finals my senior year. LeBron stated that if he had gone to college he would have went to tOSU. Could you imagine LeBron and Oden on the same team!

I'm sure he was great in HS...but this is college. The media love to pick a player every year, and "dote" on them all year...last season it was the guys from Duke and Gonzaga. Like I said, Oden is a good player...but he only had 2 points in the first half last night...he is not a "great" college player. One-on-one with Al Horford or Joakim Noah, he would be schooled...which is what happened when we played y'all in December. Oden had a hurt hand and is better now with experience...but Horford and Noah are National Championship players.

So, Oden is 1 and done? Man, it's hard to establish a powerhouse that way. That's what I love about our program and players. All 5 came back after winning the NC; including Noah, who was projected to be a first round pick. Even Brewer, whose family really needed the money, was the first to tell the others that they had something special; and that he was coming back to try and repeat. Loyalty to team, school, fans, and coach over oneself is what makes champions. UF is proving on the court and the field, that a good team beats a great player every time.

I remember that game well. OSU is a better team now than they were then. I wouldnt say Noah and Horford would school Oden but they would definatley contain him.
NTM our defense can contain Oden as well as the perimeter better than anyone else's IMO. That wouldnt bode well for OSU as their game plan involves getting the ball to Oden to create mis matches.

A rematch with UF/OSU could be just as one sided back then as it would be today. (in favor of UF of course)

I wouldn't say that Oden is a once in a lifetime player, its just that there are so few true centers these days. Nowadays you mostly have quicker, stronger power forwards who play the 5.

If you need a decent example, there are so few decent true centers in the NBA now that Jamaal Magloire made the All-Star team two years ago. How's his career doing these days?

I would agree with this. Its kind of weird, I looked at the brackets for a pool I'm running and about 5-6 people picked the championship game as OSU over UF.

I just don't understand how you can make that call when they've already met once this year and one team got ran out of the building. Just doesn't make any sense to me.

As for my brackets, I've got OSU losing in the Final Four. They're good, but not THAT good.

Horford had a badly sprained ankle. He didn't even know until gametime if he'd be able to play. He then promptly ran circles around Oden, bad ankle and all.

Oden - 7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks
Horford - 11 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks

Yeah but they are seniors compared to Oden, a freshman. I don't know if "schooled" would be the right word on that btw. JHMO I think Oden could show Noah and Horford a few things.

Oden stated that he was pretty sure he's coming back, but we will see. Of course Florida is a great team made up of all upper classmen. tOSU has one senior, one junior, and three freshmen in the starting lineup. I don't think the outcome of another tOSU and Florida matchup would be the same. JMHO

Uh, Nut; 4 of our 5 starters are juniors this year. Only Humphrey is a senior. Noah, Horford, Brewer, and Green were sophomores when they won the NC. And Humphrey was a junior. Even sixth man Richard was a junior last year. We didn't have any seniors playing in the NC. That's why it was so special. Not only did they win with all those underclassmen, they all came back for a 3rd year.

And, we saw what Oden could show Noah and Horford... that Thad Matta needs to be making the players run some more wind-sprints in practice. Oden looked like he was about to collapse early in the second period of the game vs. UF. Still looks that way every time they play a running team. It was hard to tell if the man would fall out or foul out first, in the game against UT. Being on the bench saved him a coronary.

Okay my bad GU & GH. Should have did my homework but I thought Florida had 4 seniors and 1 junior. Leave it to the King of Facts to correct me. Who cares! Oden, Hansbrough, Noah, Horford, Fazekas, Hibbert, etc are all great top elite big men. If Oden does leave after this year, then tell me why he would be the top 1 or 2 picks in the NBA along with Durant. Both of those freshmen players will be taken before Noah and Horford. JMO

Oh, I don't doubt for a second that he'd be taken early. Men his size are a hot commodity, polished or not. There's not a team in the NBA that wouldn't take him for his potential. But, without more college experience, he'll be a work-in-progress. That's how everybody describes him. He's still rough around the edges. If he comes out, he comes out. Nobody's going to pass on him just because they think he needs some refining. Every team would take the chance, and gladly work him into the dominant center they think he can be.

As for blocking shots, Oden is considerably bigger than either Noah or Horford. Those two also split the shot-blocking duties for us. That said, I won't give you any more stats; I'll just let you guess who holds the shot-blocking record for the NCAA tourney.
