He can take a program at Minnesota which is known to have the potential for success and make something out of them, and there will be no pressure, whereas at Kentucky he was expected to compete for national titles every year. If he wins at Minnesota, he can write his own ticket anywhere. I wonder if this signals anything for Gottfried in the near future?

Great move for Tubby. He'll enjoy a less stressful life at Minnesota and have a great deal of success. The expectations in basketball at Kentucky are unbelievably high and a lack of perceived success there can make life extremely hard, I would imagine. Now the question; who will the Big Blue get as a basketball coach? Although very improbable, wouldn't it be great to see Bobby Knight at the helm of the Wildcats!?! Wow! What fun that would be!

Hypothetical scenario

Let's take a hypothetical here. Let's just say there was a football team who had been pretty pathetic lately, but let's just say they had great tradition in football and had won let's say, 5 or 6 legitimate national Championships in college football, which is akin to one of the top traditional basketball programs - Kentucky. But let's just consider - hypothetically, that this team had actually put a college coach in a position to earn 40 million dollars - let's just say, hypothetically. And then the new coach, hypothetically lost 6 or 7 games in the first two seasons and worse yet - hypothetically, lost at Auburn in '07 and then AGAIN at Tuberville-Bryant-Denny Stadium in '08.

I guess then the obvious hypothetical question would be - Will Minnesota possibly have a football head coaching job available in 2 or 3 years?

Turd strikes again.:flaming:

Hypothetically speaking, if you combine turd and florida boy, would you get a whole or half of a brain?

How did this evolve into a Barn/Bama dispute so quickly?

That’s blaspheme. I am always civil. As I stated - "For the love of my down-trodden brothers, let the Tide fans have their pride in the past. It's all they have". Ya'll know my luv for Bama. These charges are ludicrous.

Hope Tubby likes lots of cold weather and snow! He's probably putting 10 more years on his life leaving the stress of Kentucky for the laid back Minnesota job. Now the question is, will the Wildcats be better off two years from now than they are today?

Rich Brooks is willing to bet five bucks that Barnhart screws the hire up and Kentucky will be wishing they still had Tubby

Geaux, go back and read the last part of the OP, it didnt "evolve", it was just a sneaky way to start a "Barn/Bama dispute".

I wonder what's going to happen if the new coach doesn't start winning big right away. Will the UK fans nut up again, immediately? How many years will the new coach get to improve the team? They wouldn't have any justification for complaining after demanding Tubby's head. They got what most of them wanted. The popular belief is that he wouldn't have been fired. ESPN said UK got caught napping, and that Tubby only told the AD he was leaving 30 minutes before the announcement. UK didn't even have a chance to negotiate or talk him out of it. It sounds like they had to agree to the buyout, because Tubby decided he wasn't coming back. Almost sounds like he's had this on the back burner for awhile.

I imagine his wife has kept it on the back burner for awhile for Tubby.
