just won't happen people. I figured it would only be minutes before someone started a rumor like this. The man turned down a raise from UF to show that he wasnt in it for the money.
I predict this will be like when Alabama went after Spurrier in football. Ill bet $50 that tomorrow some Kat fan will have a "Welcome to UK coach Donovan" website posted.

That being said how much $$$ do yall think UK is going to offer their next coaching candidate?

I agree that Donovan won't take the job, now that he's built the Florida program to such an elite status. Plus, there's no real reason to suggest that the Gator program will drop off after his current crop of players move on.

The only thing that could possibly interest Donovan would be how it would establish his "legacy" as an all-time great BB coach if he were to take the historic Kentucky program back to it's championship days of old. This is similar to how a position such as HC of Alabama's storied football program would lure top coaches looking to stamp their name into history, and it's also a main reason why Spurrier turned it down, IMO.

If Donovan prefers setting precedents of excellence to following prior footsteps, like Spurrier does, then I would count him out of the KY job......

Who better to identify with this than South carolina fans. Spurs has set goals for his campaign at USC and he proved(by turning down the bama job) that he is determined to accomplish them.
I dont believe Donovan is done at UF just yet.
NTM I wouldnt want to "roll" into the coaching job at UK the way their next HC will have to. Tubbs leaving UK is like a rat jumping off a sinking ship and their next HC is going to have to try to plug all the holes.

I mean UK just announced that Tubby Smith would still be their coach not too long ago and now Tubby leaves them?

I think it is psycho to think the UK job is still not the #1 job in the SEC if not in all college basketball.

UK will be back on top again one day but they are going to have to get used to some company. I think more and more SEC teams will compete in basketball.

Our rinky-dink program looks a tad bit better than yours does at present.

Agreed. But watch out! Your dealing with the dual fan here.

Jesus X. Christ man....I was simply repeating what everybody else was saying at the time. Everybody's program looks better than ours right now.

Assuming you are talking about Ole Miss and not the big USC.

Da.n, Gator! Are you trying to give me heart failure? I'd know if the thread was started by a UK fan that it was BS. When I saw that you started it, I nearly had to go change my boxers. Thanks for that. Anyway, of course it won't happen. Donovan has a great class already signed; and Tubby quitting means we'll likely get Patrick Patterson, who he's been lobbying hard. It's thought it was a toss-up between UK and UF. He even came to the beatdown the Gators gave Kentucky at the O'Dome at the end of the regular season. It was rumored he'd already committed to UF earlier in the week, but it died down. He may have found out that the UK coach who was recruiting him wasn't even going to be there next year. Please let that be the nail in the coffin that brings the big man to Gainesville.

He wasn't ever going to. There was never an offer, whatsoever. All a smokescreen by Jimmy Sexton to buy Saban time.

Billy Donovan Late March:
"Florida is my place. I love the Gators. I would never, ever leave."

Billy Donovan End of March:
"I can't say this plainly enough; I will never, ever be the coach at Kentucky.

Billy Donovan 1st of April:
"The Florida administration has been very kind to me and I owe them a lot."

Billy Donovan Early April:
"I've been contacted, yes; but I told them, as I've told you; I'm not interested."

Billy Donovan Mid April:
"It's important that I keep my options open, for my family's sake."

Billy Donovan Late April:
"It's wonderful to be a part of the Big Blue nation. I can't tell you how proud I am to be the basketball coach of the Kentucky Wildcats and to carry their heritage forward. I can tell you, to be at a basketball school rather than a football school makes all the difference in the world."

Billy D isn't going anywhere. Florida is his program. Kentucky is just a b-ball monster looking for a hired gun to get them back on the map.

Patrick had Seth Davis (?) on his show, and Davis said UK will probably make a run at Pitino.

I also heard the coach at UMass was on the short list.

First off, yes I'm a Gamecock...but in the lean basketball years I took to pulling for my SEC brethren Kentucky in basketball. All I can say is I would drop a load if they got Pitino. It gets me excited just thinking about him coming back to the SEC.

*Dickie V voice* "Rick Pitino...the little magician babyyyyy."

No man, we've gotta have Bobby! I want to see some folks slapped around! I want to see some chairs thrown at fans! I want to hear some cussing! Kentucky will be back in the win columns!

If I was a UK fan, I'd want Gillespie from A&M. Sure they lost tonight, but honestly, Texas A&M was a bucket away from being in the Elite 8!

Billy Gillespie has turned that chunk of coal into a diamond.
