Man, you gotta love Meyer, if you're a Gator. He knew that he'd be losing a lot of guys after this year; and played a lot of freshmen, so there'd be some experience going into this season. Freshmen Percy Harvin, Brandon James, Brandon Spikes, Jarred Fayson, and Tim Tebow all played in every game last year, with the first 3 as starters. I watched an interview with Meyer right after the NC game, during which, he was asked why he played so many freshmen when most of his peers were still having freshmen warm the bench. Meyer said college football has changed so much in the last 10 years with many more players leaving early, that if you wanted any production out of your really talented players, you had to start using them in their freshmen seasons. They went on to say Meyer has been one of the few coaches to notice the trend, and make immediate plans with his skill-position freshmen. It was a win-win situation for him. Have those young guys contribute, with the bonus of having some guys with experience start the following year, when he'd be losing some starters.

More evidence of that is his insistence on 9 of our incoming freshmen enrolling early to be ready for immediate playing time. Those 9 guys were on campus days after signing their LOI. A couple were in Gainesville to sign it. They're already taking classes and practicing. This guy is a genius at planning and organizing. 3 weeks ago, during an interview, he said Tebow looks great and is basically ready. He just wanted to tweak his ball-release so it was a little faster. And, the thing I really like, is his recognition of what needs to be taken care of with his new guys. He's not satisfied with just the one NC; and, he's preparing his team to live up to the enormous expectations that come with being the National Champions. He said he's learned a lot about that from Billy Donovan. Everyone will be gunning for you; so you better be ready, and prepared for each team's best game. For some reason, I'm confident they will be with Meyer at the helm.

He said it, himself. "There are so many positives from last year that we have a heck of an obligation or responsibility to build upon that. There's no sustaining. If you're sustaining, you're losing, you're going backward. We're moving. We're not sitting back trying to figure out how to enjoy this. We're trying to figure out how to build upon it and that's a hell of a task."

Did I mention I really like this Meyer guy?

Don't forget Rich Brooks has a Super Bowl ring and a Major Pac 10 field named after him. He also was coach of the year.

The guy has had a pretty good past. I think he has done ok at UK. Not many coaches have won there.

I know this guy talking smack about him is just goofing.... but he had a good year last year and should have a better team this year (the schedule is harder though). Not to mention his OC should be the next HC there.

Ill agree with that 100%. To all the UK posters here who have class, my remarks to this flammer are not intended to you. All the UK fans who post here have alot of class except for this Rick Brooks guy & maybe that play2win1986 guy.
Rich Brooks did a good job last year raising UK from the basement. Rolling off an 8-5 season isnt exactaly grounds for saying you will go 14-0 next year. No one is taking this guy serious, I'm aware of that. I have a feeling if he keeps this up a little longer hell get the boot.

Rich Brooks is nothing but class, that is why Rich Brooks is the most respected coach to ever step on the field

Yeah, I noticed that when I was looking at the roster. Not a bad number... for a variety of reasons. Not the least of which, #1 was his recruiting position and how he finished his freshman season. RFN probably gave him his blessing.

 What do you mean? The only way that article could be taken as a negative is if we hadn't already been prepared for the circumstances in it. We're used to playing our freshmen. Should be more of the same as last year. Almost the exact same article was on Gatorsports.com; and it wasn't perceived as a bad thing at all. Meyer's got months to prepare, and enough talent for 2 complete SEC contenders. He could field a whole 2nd team better than many schools' starters. No problem keeping our chins up in this corner of the SEC.

We don't rebuild, we reload.
I think the future of Florida football looks just fine. Out of the next 2 or 3 years, I think next season will be the worst of those and even then I expect us to contend for the SEC east and the SEC championship.
Well be a young team next year and will have to gain experience at the expense of a few possible losses. But we can only get better as the season progresses.
How quickly some forget that Meyer reeled in the #1 recruiting class only a couple of months ago. That recruiting class is going to shine in the next couple of years.
